My custom GPT knowledge files have disappeared

I created a few custom GPTs in July 2024, including adding several files to the Knowledge section.

As of the last couple of weeks, I notice that, for two out of three GPTs, those knowledge files have disappeared. They do not appear in the Configure section for the GPT.

Deletion may have occurred at some point before Oct/Nov 2024.

If I look at the Version History, all the files are actually showing - both for previous datestamps and even “Current version”. But, back in the Configure screen, they are not really there.

It’s pretty serious that my files have been deleted without permission. But OpenAI never responds to support chat.

Chat with the GPT confirms it’s not drawing on the documents.

Solution/workaround: Restoring a previous version from Version History reinstates the files - but it cannot, of course, restore files that were not yet in the GPT at that point.

An arbitrary change and update to the GPT does not work, it must be a version restore.

Did the restore work despite the files not being shown in the previous versions? I have the same problem and I’m afraid restoring older versions won’t work because I cannot see the files in them. I’ve realized that most of my GPTs have been modified and the files deleted by ChatGPT. This is truly disappointing and frustrating.
