Hi everyone, I’ve noticed a recent change in the GPT-4o free version, where there’s now a limit of around 10 messages every 3 hours. I just wanted to share this in case others are experiencing the same.

I totally feel the same way. Over the past week, I’ve noticed how limited the GPT-4o model feels, and it’s been a bit frustrating. I ended up using other AI brands while waiting for the cooldown or the limit to reset. It would be great if the limits could be reconsidered to enhance the overall user experience

it still hasn’t been removed for me, has openai made any statements about this? it’s honestly just inconvenient for those who use it for things other than spam generating images 
i do hope that they’ll change it or at least adjust it as they advance more
I noticed the limit too since they rolled out the new image generation thing, and it’s been so frustrating because at first I thought It was just a glitch for the traffic that came along the new feature, but damn I have to start switching between using other AI and stuffs. I hope they fix this soon.

I unfortunately also have this problem, it’s been happening since March 31st or 30th 2025, and I quite hate it! I understand restrictions and limits, but I had 50 questions before, and I had to wait 24 hours to use gpt 4o, which I understand and loved it that way, now it’s just too limiting.
I still have the same problem, unlike you.. did you specifically do anything to get the restriction removed? Like it went from 10 to 50?

Agreed. I personally preferred 50 Message in exchange for waiting an entire day to use again rather than 10 message every three hours.

Why don’t they calculate image regeneration as 5 times the normal usage, don’t you think?

hi, im a free user and the thing is, I don’t even get to send 10 messages. I only get to send 4 or 5 messages and got time limit for 5 hours. It’s sucks. I really do hope we get the 50 messages back. I’m a middle schooler and I use chat gpt to ask about math equations or essays or anything so buying plus seems a bit inconvenient for me since in my country, chatgpt plus it is not cheap and student friendly.

Probably in relation to the Ghibi Art AI I heard about back in April 2nd, around the time when ChatGPT reduced its free limit.

I really want them to change it back! I don’t know if it was a glitch in the system, but I was able to use the 50 messages per day, and then I got the 3-hour limit. I also wrote about this issue, I am seriously considering writing one every week.
In fact, I’ll be happy if they let me write 50 messages in one go for waiting an entire day in exchange.

I propose that each of us comment on this matter at least once a week for two months. This way, we’ll increase the chances that an administrator will see it.
