The New GPT-4o Message Limit

What do you mean? Can you tell me more about it?

Probably in relation to the Ghibi Art AI I heard about back in April 2nd, around the time when ChatGPT reduced its free limit.

I really want them to change it back! I don’t know if it was a glitch in the system, but I was able to use the 50 messages per day, and then I got the 3-hour limit. I also wrote about this issue, I am seriously considering writing one every week.

In fact, I’ll be happy if they let me write 50 messages in one go for waiting an entire day in exchange.

Exactly. I totally agree with you.

I totally agree with you. I also hope they change it back. It’s really frustrating, and writing every week sounds like a good idea to me!

I propose that each of us comment on this matter at least once a week for two months. This way, we’ll increase the chances that an administrator will see it.

I suggest that each of us provide feedback on this issue at least once a week over the next two months. This consistent engagement will improve the likelihood of an administrator taking notice and addressing the matter.

Good thinking. You’re right about that

Thanks for taking the time to flag this.

As this is a ChatGPT issue, please visit help.openai.com and use the support system in the bottom right corner to alert ChatGPT support to make sure the right team at OpenAI gets visibility.

This forum deals with the API and related services and is not the correct place for feedback regarding ChatGPT.

I appreciate your frustration, but I ask you to use the correct method to highlight your issue with OpenAI.

Thanks for your time.

Thanks for your reply, that’s the issue here, this is not a “broader forum”, this is a very narrowly purposed API and developer support forum. It is not a general ChatGPT feedback forum.

If you are developing with ChatGPT and have specific issues regarding code generation or developer centric needs, then we are here to support you. However, general feedback and complaints about ChatGPT’s usage limits, perceived output quality and other non developer specific needs will not get addressed here, hence my advice to pass this on to the correct team at help.openai.com.

I understand what you’re saying, and I have already contacted the appropriate team through help.openai.com. However, I don’t see the reason why my post was hidden, as its only purpose was to inform other users that they can report this ‘issue’ through help.openai.com, especially since, as you mentioned, that is the correct way to proceed.

I also don’t understand why my main post was hidden under the justification that it was ‘inappropriate.’ My only intention was to reach more users. I understand that this forum may not be intended for such messages, but in my opinion, it’s the only way I have to communicate and inform other users about the situation.

This is the wrong forum to post about ChatGPT issues, this is a space for developers who are a very small number compaired to the number of ChatGPT users. ChatGPT content would drown out any hope of developers voices being heard for their specific issues, hence why there is a dedicated ChatGPT support system at help.openai.com.

Posting here just makes it harder for developers to find solutions to their issues and to find spaces to discus their needs and projects. For you this is one topic and it does not seem like much, but you then need to multiply that by the approximately one million users registered here and I hope you can see that just one post or just one topic a million times would make it impossible for developers to find anything here.

This forum is the wrong place to get visibility for your issue, please use help.openai.com.

I understand, that’s fine. Thank you for taking the time to respond and explain how to handle this matter properly. I hope this post also helps other users understand how to proceed correctly. That’s why I’ll share a guide to help those who read this:

(''Visit help.openai.com

Click the chat icon in the lower right corner

Choose:
→ “ChatGPT (including Plus)”
→ “Something else”

Paste the message below or write your own:

Hello, OpenAI team,
I’ve noticed a recent change in the free version of ChatGPT with GPT-4o. There’s now a limit of around 10 messages every 3 hours, which feels too restrictive.
While I understand some limitations are necessary, this limit significantly impacts the user experience. I would appreciate it if you could review and adjust this policy to offer a better balance for free users.
Thank you for your attention.

The more reports they get, the better chance we have of seeing a change’’ )

I really appreciate you taking the time to respond to my message. Thank you so much, I truly mean it. Wishing you a great day

I don’t really see what you opened. Did you start a conversation, or is there something else in the chat?

Okay, let me explain:

Go to help.openai.com. In the bottom right corner, you’ll see a message icon. Click on it.

When you do, several options will appear, select the one that says ‘Messages’ (you need to be logged into your account to access it).

From there, just follow the steps I mentioned earlier.

Yes i keep getting a a annoying error saying “Im sorry you have reached your message cap for GPT4 for the day” I am paid Pro account user and Ive been able to speak with the standard voice usually longer. But since this last week it seems like now even the standard voice has a limit that has been shortened. Im aware of advanced voice features and times…however with standard voice i used to be able to talk to it for a much longer time and now it just gets capped out around 45 min - 1 hour. It has never been like that in the past AND also it constantly repeats
“im sorry i cant hear you right now” but then contunues to the task or convo like it did hear me?

im confused on if this is a bug, or an update that is new. Plus my account keeps getting errors and flagged and limits on new project folders created…
Anyone else having this issue or know what happening?

Hey, I keep running into this annoying error that says, “I’m sorry, you have reached your message cap for GPT-4 for the day.” I’m a paid Pro account user, and I used to chat with the standard voice for way longer without issues. But since last week, even the standard voice seems to have a shorter limit. I know about the time caps on advanced voice features, but with standard voice, I could talk for ages before. Now it cuts me off after like 45 minutes to an hour, which never happened in the past. Plus, it keeps saying, “I’m sorry, I can’t hear you right now,” but then just carries on with the convo or task like it did hear me.

I’m not sure if this is a bug or some new update. On top of that, my account keeps getting errors, flagged, and limited when I try to create new project folders. Is anyone else dealing with this, or does anyone know what’s up?
