Why is the ChatGPT app not using my bluetooth headset?
I want my bluetooth headset on Android, that normally works with all apps, to also work with chatgpt in voice chat mode. However when i connect it chatgpt briefly plays a sound in the headphones while connecting to voice chat and then defaults to phone ear speaker, not even the normal phone loudspeaker, let alone the headset.
It does not seem to use the microphone on the headset either.
I have tried allowing and disallowing to use the headset for phone calls, turned on and off media capability but does not seem to matter.
Is this supposed to work? If so - How? If not - Why not?
Same issue here on pixel android with samsung galaxy buds pro 2. Works with wired headphones, and also with other bluetooth headphones. Other apps works with the galaxy buds. Seems there is some compatibility issue with the samsung galaxy buds pro 2.
Glad I found this. I was growing desperate. Voice conversations were working fine with older earbuds but since I upgraded to the Pixel Buds Pro 2…it just won’t work… Works with Gemini though, the problem is Gemini is useless…
I have the same problem, neither my Bluetooth speakers nor headphones work in conversation mode. And I can’t just keep holding my phone next to my ear.
That would be very appreciated if this problem was solved. I am blind and the voice chat feature helps me a lot.I tried having the voice of chat-gpt respond on my bluetooth speaker While talking to it through the microphone of my samsung phone. I wanted to use it this way.So to have my hands free for doing other stuff. Also , to avoid having to listen to the harsh speakers of my phone. This also doesn’t work. If I want to use the voice-chat mode, The app ignores the Bluetooth connection And forces me to put my phone to my ear.
This makes this great feature unpractical. It would be useful if the user could select microphone input devices (phone-mic or headset-mic), and voice output devices (phonespeakers, headphones or other bluetoothspeakers). At this moment, This feature only works on some headsets, earbuds or bluetooth speakers with built in microphones. It has to have a microphone. If you really want ai to seamlessly follow people around, assist them wherever they go and to get ai integrated into Daily living Then this simple fix should be crucial. Like an assistant always present in your livingroom or like a jarvis-companion in your ear during a city-trip.
Now it just feels like calling someone for information, but if done right, a paid subscription should be a no-brainer. ( For me and many others with Visual handicaps).
This issue still exists.
I want to be able to control which device the app uses on Android.
It works better on iOS but still far from perfect.
Also the app doesn’t respect the system input and output. It will always use the internal Android phone’s speaker, even if I connect a bluetooth speaker. Same for microphone.
First time using chatGPT and disappointed to find advanced voice mode doesn’t work with my bluetooth speaker.
I tried both Android and iOS app. Neither sends audio to the bluetooth speaker. Android failed the most, it sent chatGPT voice mode audio to the phone’s ear piece speaker not the loud speaker! Also, no funny accents… advanced voice mode refused to speak with an Italian accent, even though she agreed to do it. Her voice didn’t change at all from the default. If “boring” is the objective of this app, I won’t be re-subscribing beyond the $20 single month.
ChatGPT worked over Bluetooth for many months just fine, but has stopped working in the last few weeks.
Now when I try to make a voice call/chat with ChatGPT, if it’s connected to my car via Bluetooth, it immediately disconnects, but if I disable Bluetooth it works fine over the phone’s speaker.
