Cannot get ChatGPT to use my bluetooth headset for discussion

I had the same issue with my Pixel 6a and ag PITA wireless earphones. After upgrading to a Pixel 9a and disabling LE Audio, the conversation finally works smoothly!

I just signed up for the beta (android) so I could use chatGPT as my Google Assistant. This bug is a blocker for me because I need the assistant while driving. Please fix

I have the same issue. And I noticed that, after ending the live audio version of the conversation, when it shows the response and has a little speaker icon after that text, I do hear via Bluetooth if I press that.

I do have a setting on my phone that others may want to check for, as it could be affecting this: I specifically disabled phonecalls over Bluetooth on my phone. Instead, it is forced to handle calls in normal phone mode (phone held to ear), even if I was listening to something over Bluetooth.
I set that setting because I often use only one earbud, and that results in me hearing the other person but them not hearing me. And the phone turns it’s screen off during calls, which prevented me from quickly disabling Bluetooth to use the phone line a phone.

So, there is a chance that OpenAI has told your device that the live chat is actually a phonecall rather than a media experience. If that’s the case, then everything is doing what it is “supposed” to be doing. But you’ll need to find that call-over-bluetooth setting (which is hard to find) and disable it. I will try that myself, if I can find that setting.

What is this crap? Longstanding ridiculous bug. After I’m done using the ChatGPT app over bluetooth, the bluetooth connection doesn’t work with other apps. I have to force close the app, disconnect the bluetooth, then reconnect for it to work again. Happens with Pixel Buds Pro 2, but also a cheap BT speaker.

Bad bug. Still not sure why I pay for pro.

Same issue here on Windows 10: Advanced Chat doesn’t output audio when using a Bluetooth headset (Soundcore Liberty 4 NC). Wired headphones work perfectly. The regular text-to-speech function works in all cases, including via Bluetooth.

Tested with: – ChatGPT Desktop App (v1.2025.205)
– Windows 10 Pro
– Realtek onboard audio (wired headset works fine)
Soundcore Liberty 4 NC Bluetooth headset → no audio output in Advanced Chat

This appears to be a recurring issue with Advanced Chat and Bluetooth audio devices.
Would appreciate an update from OpenAI — this seems to affect a growing number of users.

Same issue, iPhone 14 Pro Max, using jbl flip 6 speaker, I cannot get chatgtp to play thru the speaker at all! Looking for some kind of solution, even if it’s 3rd party?

Same with me. At first I thought it was browser problem. But I check it is all the same in different browsers as well. I test my webcam mic and mic on my bluetooth headphone both are working fine in chrome as well as edge.
