Why is ChatGPT limiting the number of images I try to generate for something I paid for?

I’m trying to make a story for my channel on youtube and I need a large number of images. Most times when I try to generate, Dall-E doesnt get it right, so I have to generate over and over again. When I try to generate, I get the message that “I have reached the daily maximum number of images.” Its kinda frustrating.
According to ChatGPT, As a ChatGPT Plus subscriber at $20 per month, I can generate up to 50 images every three hours using DALL·E 3.
So even though it says “I have reached the daily maximum number of images.” can I still generate images in 3 hours time?? I’m confused here.
I have the 20 bucks subscription plan or something like that.
I hate to wait. I need to to get going with my project.

Hey I was going to subscribe to plus for more image generation, but you are right, the limits are not clear. Were you able to figure this out?

Bro you’re paying chatgpt why didn’t you ask it itself to tell you. I literally just ask it about the limits of the pro plan and said 200 images per day besides the 3 hour mark you said. Be creative with it’s use bro , you don’t need forums now , you need prompts (99% of the time).

All the best

Yeah , but AI can’t count so I don’t know how reliable its answer will be :joy:

I’ve started experiencing the same issue as of yesterday. just last month, I was generating way over 200 images per day (also working a project, also an absolute perfectionist and GPT seems to never get all details right in one go so I kept having to repeat it) and besides the cooldowns here and there (to be expected, but never, NEVER longer than 33 minutes), this cap has never happened before. I also pay for Plus. so I ended up on this thread and reading the comments, I saw someone mention to ask GPT itself about these limitations. so I did; to which it told me the cut is not, in fact, at 200 — but 100 images per day. when I mentioned my activity last month, it also told me this limit situation is pretty new.
then I went further and asked if, by paying for a version above Plus (believe it’s Pro), I’d eliminate this cap — and it answered that there’s no version which would eliminate it atm; so don’t make that mistake lol. I almost did; glad I asked.
utterly out of spite, I asked if there’s other AI image generators available that come close or even top GPT atm and although it did answer me GPT is the best available (petty little thing, too lol), it gave me a list with, say, second best and asked if I wanted it to write me a prompt made specifically for the service of my choice. so that could be an alternative; I’m about to find out (with Leonardo).
ps. I did end up my thread saying: “yep [to the prompt] — and if it does it better than you, Ima shove it in your face lol”

I have similar problem but got more complex… I was blocked for 30 days to generate new pictures… And I totally not yet generate any pictures today…I’ve tried to get in touch with open ai customer service and i think it probably will work…still not sure and if have any update i will also reply here…(feeling upset

This happened to me 2 days ago, 4 August 2025. Chatgpt said I had to wait 270 hours. I didn’t realise that there was a cap. And as another user mentioned in the thread, what was annoying was ChatGPT made so many mistakes while trying to generate my images. Sometimes it created the opposite sex, or a white person, instead of Asian or Black. Sometimes it create famous cartoon characters, which baffled me. Many images, I just stopped before they were created, as I could see they were wrong, especially when asking for landscape or portrait mode images. I wasted a lot of time trusting it to create batch images that it said it would create, and it never happened once. Many of the creations were amazing but in the 2 months that I had a subscription, I easy had over 100 images created wrong. And trying to contact OpenAI wasn’t easy. And ChatGPT told me that even when I had pay for a new month, the ban would still be in place. So I cancelled my subscription. I’m not paying for something I cannot use. They’re tripping.

if you get an insane amount of wait time for your next image gen, start a new session

this has happened a few times to me but it always seems localized in the session and not applied to new ones.

I wonder.. This is my first time using an AI app, and after almost 2 week now I got limit, from limit time 2hours untill 18hours yesterday..i didn’t even ask the chatgpt to generate an image tho, i only need for my task and also for an idea of my characters that i need for my story (i do write some story btw)

Is it because I’m not using the pro so that I got limit even it I’m not generate a pic?? How much difference between paying version and the free version??
