I am writing to inquire about the recent suspension of my OpenAI API account for my organization, Personal. I have been utilizing the API to assist me in code development and was surprised to receive the following notification email:
Hi there,
We have determined that you or a member of your organization are using the OpenAI API in ways that violate our policies.
Due to this breach, we are halting access to the API immediately for the organization Personal. Common reasons for breach include violations of our usage policies or accessing the API from an unsupported location. You may also wish to review our Terms of Use.
If you believe this is in error and would like to appeal, please contact us through our help center. We will review appeals as soon as possible and will contact you if we reinstate access to the API.
I would like to understand the specific reasons behind the suspension of my API access and kindly request the reinstatement of my account. I have reviewed the OpenAI Terms of Use and am certain that our usage does not violate any policies. As a loyal user and customer, I have always been committed to following the guidelines and regulations set by OpenAI.
If there were any concerns pertaining to the way I or a member of my organization have been using the API, I would greatly appreciate receiving detailed feedback. This will allow me to rectify any mistakes and ensure compliance going forward.
I understand that you may receive numerous appeals on a daily basis, and I kindly ask for your prompt attention to my case. I believe in the value of the OpenAI API and the positive contribution it has made to my code development processes. It would be highly advantageous for our organization to regain access to the API as soon as possible.
Please let me know if there is any additional information or clarification required from my end. Thank you for your understanding and support. I look forward to a positive resolution to this matter.
I don’t understand the reason for the ban, my account registered last year has been working normally, recently changed to use a VPS in Singapore to deploy my application, used to assist me in code development, why was I banned just after depositing 10USD?
Where do I contact customer service? The bot in the help center didn’t seem to be able to report my problem, so I googled it, sent an email to support@openai.com, and then received a notification that this email address does not accept emails.
You will likely get no information about the automated reason for account disengagement. It is likely that the account location and personal banking information don’t agree, or the bank has Chinese ties, which is not a supported country.
The only way you will be able to communicate with anyone about accounts is through the “help” option in platform.openai.com, and by picking the most appropriate menu choices before being able to send a message under the help assistant “messages”.
You do not have an account because it has been deleted or deactivated. If you believe this was an error, please contact us through our help center at help.openai.com.

I know that China is not a supported country. I am Chinese, currently working in Singapore. I am using a virtual bank card and an OCBC bank card from Singapore.
Is it because of OCBC bank card that I just bound?
Also,
I sometimes use a Chinese VPN to access services in China.
“Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation” - yep, when it comes to dealing with nationals from an unsupported country that use VPNs from an unsupported country with banking from an unsupported country…you can draw your own conclusion.
I may not fully agree with your point. OCBC is a Singaporean bank, and its main users are Singaporeans. My colleagues also use OCBC, but they have not been banned. I mainly want to know the specific reason for the ban, at least I need an explanation.
Good luck finding even a decent explanation here. Even the leader here cannot help you except for OpenAI staffs themselves. I used to have many problems with chatGPT and the best they came up with were “wait, we are going to fix that”. But, I needed it fast, and I didn’t need it anymore when they fixed the errors. So yeah, you’re at the mercy of OpenAI’s regulations and usage policy. If you’re lucky, you can get very fast fix. If not, well, good luck
