Where Have My Projects Gone?

Hello,

As of today, all of my saved projects have disappeared. I had stored all relevant information there, including tone of voice and important project details. The chats within each project have been completely deleted without any prior notice!

This means that I have lost three full months of work—work that ChatGPT was able to process and use for my individual projects. I carefully compiled all of this information over three months, and now it is gone.

Why was this feature removed?

I have a paid subscription, and the ability to create projects saved me a lot of time and effort. How can I now access my missing chats? I need them so I don’t have to explain everything from scratch every time—especially regarding my target audience and project goals.

Why were my chats and projects simply deleted—without any warning? Or is it a bug? Does anyone else have the same problem?

Same issue here… what is going on? It took awhile for the page to load, and although my chats are available on the left, the several Projects are missing

Hi Eric,
I found out something strange.
All projects were visible in the Chat GPT app on my smartphone!
Everything was completely there. I then clicked back and forth a bit in the folders and then dialed into the desktop version. And suddenly all the projects were there again, including the chats that I had sorted there.
I hope it stays that way now. I don’t know whether there is actually a connection between the app view and the desktop view, but it worked. Try it out and let me know if it worked.

Hi Kate - Yes there are showing for me now, but not yesterday. The Projects are the last element that loads so perhaps it was some other issue on my end. But so glad they are still there/available!

Super! That’s great! I think it was more of a problem with Open AI. New functions or similar have been added that run in the background and the user is the one with problems. :face_with_rolling_eyes:

Happened to me today! I logged out and logged back in. Everything appeared after that,but it was indeed weird

UPDATE: I’ve cleared the cache and updated the Brave browser. Projects are back for me.

Same here. When using the browser, the projects section and chats are gone.
I have tried logging out and logging back in. Didn’t fix the issue.

When using the OpenAI iPhone App, projects are still there.

Ok, here’s a weird solution. I had the same problem on my Mac running Safari - projects all disappeared. But when I log in on my MacBook everything is fine. The only difference being my MacBook runs NordVPN. So I ran it on my Mac , connected to local server and all my projects came back. I’m sure someone better than me can explain why, but it worked!
