Did OpenAI Remove 'Projects'? All My Chats Are Gone!

This afternoon, all of my ‘Project’ folder/sections and the chats within them disappeared. As a paying customer, I rely on this tool to keep my work structured, and this sudden change is beyond frustrating.
Has this happened to anyone else? Was this an intentional change by OpenAI, or is it a bug?

Sorry for posting this here, but I couldn’t find any official way to ask this question—again, crazy for a paying customer. If anyone has answers, I’d really appreciate it.

Update: I notice the projects are still in my IOS app, just missing from desktop browser.

It seems to be back again. Glitch in the system or bad update, I guess/hope.

Update: I spoke too soon. Gone again!

Still not back for me. I can see the project folders in the app, but I cannot add any files.

I have same issue. On MAC OS SEQUOIA folders/projects are missing. They are present in the MAC app. Been like this for 3-4 days. Need this fixed. Happens in Safari and Chrome. I have a pro account.

Completely gone and at the worst time too. OpenAI is really interfering with my productivity lately.

UPDATE: I’ve cleared the cache and updated the Brave browser. Projects are back for me.

Same here. When using the browser, the projects section and chats are gone.
I have tried logging out and logging back in. Didn’t fix the issue.

When using the OpenAI iPhone App, projects are still there.

I ended up just installing the app on my mac to work around this issue

I cleared everything and problem is still there.

The browser is not usable for me without projects.

Reason I like the browser over the app is that Features show up there first and are usually more stable in browser version. Also more flexible in copying results with formtatting from browser

Hey Grover, so yes it did disappear from the website, but I can still see the folders and all the chats on ChatGPT’s android application, if that doesn’t work for you just search any keywords from those chats, in the search bar right above the chat list and you’ll find that those missing chats would show up there

My folders were there all day today and now they’re gone. This happened after I cleared out my browser history and cache and it was going super slow while I was building a website. I hope they come back.

Hello everyone - this has been driuvng me crazy to but we have found a workaround.!!!
Do a search for a chat you know is in a project - when that chat appears select it. THEN close down Safri and then reopen it and the Prijects will be back in the sidebar!!!

@alex12 Thanks for this tip, this worked for me.

Again, pretty frustrating that Projects overall seem pretty buggy and not well-supported. I feel like there’s a ton of potential for this feature, but they’re not prioritizing it.

I resolve it:

  • Go to your Android device’s Settings > Apps > ChatGPT > Storage & Cache.
  • Tap on “Clear Cache”.

Yes, they did.
Clearing my browser cache (+ logout/loging) resolved the issue for me.
