ChatGPT removed my project folders and not working

I have about 5 project folders that I use actively and took time to set up since there were many chats in each folder. But today my project folders are gone and ChatGPT just keeps rejecting my requests with the a message about insufficent permissions. I have a paid account.

I sympathize with you :shamrock: It seems I need to go save the dialogues for, at least fragmentary, recovery of lost data

This just happened to me. Without warning, all my project folders are gone. When I ask the chat, it just says " OpenAI removed the feature. If those research threads were only stored in the Projects sidebar, they are likely gone unless OpenAI offers a way to recover them."

Is there no way to recover these things? I expected OpenAI to retain those threads. Was that naive?

The same thing happened to me. I just logged in today to find all my folders are gone along with the chats, and I’m a paid user, wtf is going on? They just flat out delete data people use without much more than a Whoopsie?

Same happened to me. I logged out and then back in and the projects were back

i dont know if any one tried it yet, but installing the app brought back my projects and the chats.

I reset the permissions and it worked

In my case:
I have the ChatGPT Windows app installed, but I disabled its automatic launch when Windows starts, so it was turned off.
However, when I manually opened the app again, the Project reappeared in both the Windows app and the browser.
Additionally, Operator and Sora showed up again as well.
But still, sometimes when I open ChatGPT in a new browser tab, the Project doesn’t show up, although it appears in the Windows app.
I think it’s probably some kind of loading issue.

I think this works…I was using chrome and I realised the projects were taken out, I switched to edge and they appeared. I don’t like edge, but as far it works … we go with the flow

Thanks for this thread. Just faced this issue today. Logging out and logging back in resolved it. Using Chrome.

All my projects disappeared this week. Page refresh, log-out/log-in, cookies cleaning - nothing helped. The section with projects disappeared as well. And I cannot find any data from projects using search.

My project folders disappeared with the iOS update today. They reappeared after I closed the app and reloaded it.

I removed browser Cache and now is okay

I’m experiencing a critical issue where project folders are inexplicably disappearing from both my MS Edge browser and the corresponding Android app. This has happened twice within the past two weeks, resulting in the loss of over 40 chats containing detailed instructions, which is extremely frustrating.

Troubleshooting Steps Taken:

  • Cleared browser cache in MS Edge.
  • Reset folder permissions.
  • Tested in MS Edge’s private browsing mode.
  • Verified the folders are also missing from the Android application.

Despite these efforts, the folders remain absent. The consistency of this issue across both platforms suggests it’s not a localized browser problem.

Key Concerns:

  • The sudden and repeated disappearance of project folders.
  • The significant data loss, specifically the 40+ chats with crucial information.
  • The potential for this to occur again.
