I’m deeply frustrated.
The voice-to-text input mode that many of us relied on every day was suddenly changed in the ChatGPT app — without any notice and without any way to choose or revert.
Until June 23, we could:
- Speak freely using the microphone,
- See the transcribed text before sending,
- Correct or edit the message,
- Add multiple parts in one go,
- And send the message only when we were ready.
As of today, that functionality is gone.
Now, after using voice input, there’s only one single button: “Send”.
The separate “Transmit” button is gone.
So the transcribed text is no longer visible, there’s no way to correct anything, and no chance to add more. The message goes out instantly.
This change feels abrupt, inconsiderate. It is a major downgrade in usability.
It actively leads to:
- Incomplete or faulty prompts,
- Messages being sent that weren’t meant to be,
- AI responses that are irrelevant — simply because we had no way to review what was transcribed.
Please bring back the classic voice-to-text input mode — with visible transcription and correction before sending.
And please: Let users choose how they want to communicate.
For many of us, this change broke a tool we trusted and used daily.
