Tier 5 account unable to make API calls despite multiple attempts and troubleshooting steps provided by the support team

Our account has been unable to make API calls for couple of weeks now even though we have not missed a single payment. We’ve tried to increase our monthly limit to multiple numbers but both calling the APIs and using the playground resulted to the error: “You exceeded your current quota, please check your plan and billing details. For more information on this error, read the docs: https://platform.openai.com/docs/guides/error-codes/api-errors.

Steps Taken:

  • Tried changing the usage limit to different values (e.g., 4000, 5000), but the “usage limit reached” error persists.
  • Renewed API keys and tried using the Playground, but the issue remained.
  • Provided screenshots showing the error when trying to use the Playground and via API calls to the support chat.
  • Tried refreshing the browser, clearing cache and cookies, and rotating the API key as per the support team’s suggestions, but the problem was not resolved.
  • Attempted using a brand new browser, but the issue persisted.

Was your organization switched to pre-paid billing in the past few months like most other developers?

If so, then you are now required to pre-fund your account prior to being able to use the API, which you can do under settings > billing.
