Pro $200/month Users Can’t Access Sora?

Urgent Issue: Access to Sora AI Video Platform for Professional Subscribers

Dear OpenAI Customer Support,

I am writing to express my concerns regarding the recent launch of the Sora AI video platform. As a professional account holder paying $200 per month, equivalent to $2400 annually, I am deeply disappointed by the current access restrictions.

Despite my commitment and investment in the professional tier, I find myself unable to access the new video platform due to high traffic and prioritization of lower-tier ($20/month) or free users. This situation contradicts the expectations that come with a professional subscription, where priority access to new features and tools is anticipated.

From a business standpoint, it is perplexing and frustrating that those contributing more significantly to the platform are not afforded the same, if not better, access privileges. This not only diminishes the value of the professional account but also impacts the efficiency of businesses like mine, which rely on the latest tools for daily operations.

I urge you to consider revisiting the access policies and ensure that professional subscribers receive the benefits and prioritization that align with their financial commitment to the platform. I look forward to a swift resolution so that I can leverage these new tools for my businesses.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I am eager to hear your response and hope for a favorable outcome.

Dr. Vince

Thanks for the warning. We were about to sign up to the $200/month option, for the purpose of generating Xmas marketing videos, but if OpenAI have botched the launch of Sora, we shan’t.

Same, issue here. Just saw the advertisement that Chat GPT Pro with $200/month subscription will be able to generate short 20 sec sora videos. I paid for the subscription, but I am unable to login to Sora. It’s says system is temporarily unavailable. Any ETA ?

Community Discussion: Fairness of Access to the Sora AI Video Platform for Professional Subscribers

Hello everyone,

I wanted to bring up a topic that’s been quite concerning for some professional users like myself of the new Sora AI video platform.

As many of you might know, professional subscription holders pay a significant amount—$200 per month—which adds up to $2400 annually. These subscribers like myself, rightfully expect priority access to new features and tools. However, it appears that high traffic and other prioritization issues are currently allowing lower-tier ($20/month) and free users precedence over professional subscribers.

This situation seems to contradict the expectations of those who have invested in the professional tier, both financially and operationally, expecting to leverage cutting-edge technology without delay.

It raises questions about the fairness and value of the professional subscription tier. From a business perspective, it’s perplexing why users contributing more significantly to the platform financially are not receiving the prioritization that reflects their commitment.

Discussion Points:

Do you think the current access policy for the Sora AI video platform is fair to professional subscribers?

Have you experienced similar issues with access or prioritization on other platforms?

How do you think Open AI should address this issue to better align with the expectations of professional users?

I’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences on this matter. Let’s discuss whether this aligns with what we expect as paying customers and how we can collectively raise this concern to get the attention it deserves.

Looking forward to your insights!

I don’t know where you got this memo but Pro subscribers have been prioritized throughout the entire release.

OP may be in Europe or other locations that do not have access to the new release.

Ah, that would make since but that has to do with EU regulations and laws. Its not an easy hoop for OpenAI to jump through.

Yeah, the CEOs built the hype by alarming everyone how “dangerous” it would be so in some inefficient countries they created review departments manned by public servants who take long lunches …

… and here we are …

… no wonder we are chasing US coat tails …

Setting my next startup up in a Yemen hub once the war is over.

It is a bit frustrating that the signups are still paused for those with a pro subscription. I would hope they would have allotted some “overhead” for pro users to be able to sign up.

Community Discussion: Access Issues for Professional Subscribers on the Sora AI Video Platform

Hello everyone,

I noticed that many of you have been sharing your creative projects using the Sora AI video platform, and I must say, the results are incredible! However, as a professional subscriber myself, I find it challenging to join in on the fun. Despite paying $200 per month for the professional subscription, I can’t get access to the brand new platform because it says that too many users have signed up and to come back later.

It’s quite frustrating to see lower-tier and even free users having easier access while professional subscribers like us are struggling. This situation raises concerns about the fairness and value of the professional subscription tier and whether it truly reflects the commitment we have made both financially and operationally.

Are any of you facing similar access issues? How do you manage to access the platform? As a pro user, I find this situation feels unfair and misaligned with the expectations that come with such an investment.

I believe it’s crucial that we discuss this matter openly, share our experiences, and collectively raise our concerns to ensure we receive the prioritization we deserve as paying customers.

Looking forward to your thoughts and solutions on how we can address this issue and improve the experience for professional subscribers!

Indeed, this is precisely the issue I raised in my previous post, where I highlighted the disparity in access to this feature among professional users. While we are paying $200/month or $2400/year, others are only paying $20 per month. This disparity is simply unjustifiable.

Show me where it says that paying $200/month somehow prevents any issues regarding technical limitations?

Even if you buy a bottle & booth at the club you still need to go through the same door as everyone else.

If that door is on fire then you have to wait for it to be fixed, just like everyone else.

I can understand the frustration about not having access but trying to compare to lesser tiers is ridiculous. They didn’t expect the amount of people to use SoRA and are now rapidly adjusting.

Regardless, the current experience, especially for lower tier users is sub-optimal because of all of the current issues.

Yes I second this just signed up for the pro version and i cant access sora… This is concerning. Its being advertised that pro users have access to sora but then they are not able to login to create a new account. I understand the issue of server space but why launch with such a high price tag if you can deliver… Very misleading or poor planed release.

same here, completely puzzled why a Pro account users are denied the access. great marketing campaign

what you said would be ok if they prorate the subscription amount when you actually have access. But I doubt it.

In your analogy, when you have VIP access at a club you get priority access with no wait times. Pay to play.

This should be the case for “VIP/Premium” users for Sora access.

I also have a Pro Account in the US and the same issue. According to the subscription confirmation, the Pro plan clearly states:

  • Everything in Plus
  • Unlimited access to o1, o1-mini, and GPT-4o
  • Unlimited access to advanced voice
  • Access to o1 Pro mode, which uses more compute for the best answers to the hardest questions
  • Extended access to Sora video generation

However, I do not have access to Sora! It’s extremely frustrating to pay an additional $2,200 per year for features that are not being delivered, especially when there’s no resolution or response to this issue. This lack of support is unacceptable.

Same issue, thanks for speaking on it.
I’ve also messaged customer support and they gave me the typical “We are trying to allow access to all users” response… and that it is overwhelmed now.
There are people out there with no subscription at all, able to access the site while $200 pro users can’t…
