Concern Regarding Access to Sora Video Generation After Upgrading to ChatGPT Pro

Dear OpenAI Team and Community,

I hope this message finds you well.

I recently subscribed, primarily because I was interested in accessing the Sora video generation feature. However, after completing the payment, I was surprised and disappointed to see a message stating:

Video generation is temporarily disabled for new accounts.

This limitation was not mentioned during the upgrade process or clearly communicated beforehand. Had I known this in advance, I would have reconsidered my decision or at least waited until the feature became available.

I would greatly appreciate it if you could provide clarity on the following:

When will Sora video generation be enabled for new accounts?
Will I be granted access to this feature soon?
If not, what are my options moving forward? Is there a way to request a refund or pause my subscription until the feature is available?

I genuinely upgraded solely for the video generation capability, and I’m feeling quite unsure and frustrated about the situation. Any updates, timelines, or guidance you can provide would be very helpful so I can make informed decisions.

We're looking into this now! From our status page, "New users may experience temporary delays in video generation capabilities. We are applying the mitigation and are monitoring the recovery."

Same issue here, created the subscription to use this for our volunteer work and stumble upon this sudden restriction. Would be amazing if it started to work again.

Could you please clarify what the criteria are for defining a “new account”? Is it based on 1 day, 5 days, 10 days from the first login on Sora?
I believe a clarification would be helpful, especially since many users have activated a Plus subscription specifically for this reason.

I just paid for plus and have the same issue. Why have this happen when a lot of people are upgrading solely for video generation? Feels like I’ve been scammed.

Hi everyone! To confirm, Pro users should have Sora access so let me know if you still don’t. However, we’re still working on getting access to Plus users! Will update this thread when we do.

I recently subscribed to ChatGPT Plus because I understood it included access to Sora for video generation. When I tried to access Sora using the same Gmail account associated with my Plus subscription, the Sora interface acknowledged my Plus status. However, it also indicated that I am a ‘new user’ and I am currently unable to create videos.

Could you please clarify what steps I need to take to enable video creation with Sora? Is there a specific waiting period for new Plus subscribers before this feature becomes available?
