I paid $20 for Plus to Use Sora Video Generation, But Feature is not enabled – Need Urgent Clarification

Hello OpenAI Team and Community!

I hope you are doing well. I have recently purchased the ChatGPT Plus plan for $20 only because I wanted access to the Sora video generation feature.

I was shocked when i realize that it didnt allowed me to log me into sora, even when i was fully payed the plus plan. After a few days it did allowed me, but, for my surprise when i tried to generate a video, i was shocked to see the message saying:
“Video generation is temporarily disabled for new accounts.”

I was not informed of this limitation before purchasing, and it was not mentioned clearly during the upgrade process. Now I am really worried and disappointed.

I answer the following:

  • When will Sora video generation be enabled for new accounts?
  • Will this feature be available for me soon?

i would really like some clarification on a timeline for the use of sora. i bought this for a university project and now im kinda stuck.

Why am I getting the message “Video generation is temporarily disabled for new accounts”` when I login to Sora??!
I’ve been a customer for years, since OpenAI released their first model public.

This is not how you do business - you’re scaring away customers!!

Sorry for the disruption—we're looking into this now! From our status page, "New users may experience temporary delays in video generation capabilities. We are applying the mitigation and are monitoring the recovery."

I'll write back here with updates and feel free to check the status page as well.

I can’t afford to wait from 12 hours to a day between each updates. I NEED my money now so REFUND ASAP. I already sent a mail but you don’t answer.

As paying customers I believe this is disrespectful. I’ve been subscribed for a while, but the “new account” seems to be considered since the account was linked to Sora.

Same exact issue on me. There is a way to fix as soon as possible?
I’m using openAI tools for work.

Hi everyone! To confirm, Pro users should have Sora access so let me know if you still don’t. However, we’re still working on getting access to Plus users! Will update this thread when we do.

I subscribed to the SORA Plus plan with the expectation of accessing the full range of features as advertised — including video creation and the ability to generate multiple images simultaneously. However, I am extremely disappointed to find that I do not have access to video creation, and now I am limited to generating only one image at a time. I can no longer even create two images simultaneously.

While the services have been reduced, the price remains unchanged. This is unfair and unacceptable. I am simply asking for what I paid for. Please restore the promised features or provide an appropriate resolution.

We're still working to grant Sora access to Plus accounts, but I'll keep this thread updated. In the meantime, you can reach out to support@openai.com with any refund requests!

I had already been a Plus subscriber for several months, but I was never able to use Sora video generation.I canceled my subscription and emailed support for a refund, but got no reply yet.
Has anyone else experienced this? Were you able to get a refund?
