In the same boat. I don’t mind waiting a few days if that’s the case to be able to generate videos. But not knowing how long it will take is the frustrating bit.
This is absolutely shocking. I luckily only upgraded to the Plus account which is 10% of that price, but the logic still stands, the company took money from me with a promise to deliver a specific product and then disabled that service from the first minute with a stupid excuse. In my opinion:
- The videos shouldn’t be disabled at all as it is a service we are paying for.
- If it is disabled for X amount of time it should be absolutely clear on the payment page. Just hiding behind T&C is not valid as this is bad faith.
I recently subscribed to Plus with the expectation of being able to create videos, only to be met with this message. There was no mention of this limitation during the subscription process. This is incredibly frustrating and unacceptable, as I am paying for a service that I am unable to access.
What’s happening with video generation right now? I paid for a Plus subscription specifically for this purpose, and now I’m getting a message saying, “Video generation is temporarily disabled for new accounts.” It seems that a few videos have already been generated today. If this continues, I’ll cancel my subscription.
thank you you saved me 200.00 bucks, i was about to try paying them to see if that worked. but it ocurred to me to look in the forums, this is horrible customer service, contactin them is futile you get in an AI company AI reponse, figures..

Same issue here - I’ve paid for Pro for multiple months now and I went to try Sora for the first time today and received the error message “Video generation is temporarily disabled for new accounts.”
Definitely feels like false advertising and I think OpenAI may need to give refunds to people because of this, if not addressed soon. OpenAI team - would appreciate clarification here!

Kinda crazy … lots of displeased chatter, 2 days, zero response. Maybe their reply feature is currently disabled on their new account. =D
I also ran into the same issue with the Plus subscription. I have a theory that after the new image generation model was made available in the free tier, their bandwidth capacity decreased, so they had to temporarily disable video generation.

Dear OpenAI: rather than saying “Sora is fully available to Pro and Plus users”, you can at least say:
#1. We’re SORRY that Sora is not available (despite you having paid for it).
#2. ETA on when it may be enabled.
#3. Some explanation of why this is happening.
