Does anyone know what happen if I have my credit card registered, but I am still in the 5$ free credit? Do I get it? I have been using the API a few months now.

Welcome to the developer forum!

The 5$ grant is time limited, it will certainly be expired by now. This means that you will have to pay on your payment method for all tokens used.

You will, all developers should have access to the GPT-4 API by the end of the month.

They promised the gp4 api to paid developers but didā€™t give aceess to many of them

Unfortunately Iā€™m in the same boat. Weird thing is i was originally granted access and have been running the model at the start of the month. Now it does not work anymore.
Guess we will just have to wait and seeā€¦ :confused:

PS: I have of course payed bills for more than a dollar in the API

Weā€™re in the same boat - have paid a bill on the 1st July for >$1 but no gpt-4 access on the account. @logankilpatrick any chance of helping with this issue too please? (org is org-SyKhBpW7ijrSuAfNG9ZAt1Ri)

Unless OpenAI have changed something in the past few months, paying for ChatGPT Plus is not the same as having GPT-4 API access. Youā€™ll just have to wait it out like the rest of the people waiting for GPT-4 API access. This includes the playground.

The announcement :

Today all existing API developers with a history of successful payments can access the GPT-4 API with 8K context. We plan to open up access to new developers by the end of this month, and then start raising rate-limits after that depending on compute availability.

I donā€™t see any mention of Plus in there, so my understanding would be that itā€™s for all developers regardless of Plus Membership status.

That is different from the API. The 20 a month is for Chat GPT 4 Chat, and not the API.

Their announcement did not specify a " generated an API bill > $1" limit.
Consequently, even though my three bills were below $1, I was denied access, and they discarded the GPT4 waiting list. And their support chat bot is just a time waster.
Such decisions by the company and their treatment of valued customers leave much to be desired.

I have the same issue I am a paid customer (API) for a few months on a personal account, no gpt-4 access whatsoever.

Is this the case even if my billing did not reach >$1? I have to purposely spam until I spend $1 but that feels like a waste. Iā€™d rather spend it on GPT-4 instead.

You donā€™t need to increase your spend, you wonā€™t receive access faster. All developers regardless of billing should have access at end of the month.
