Need Help: GPT Transfer Stuck—Support Unresponsive

Hey everyone,

I’m running into a big issue and could really use some advice from OpenAI or the community to solve this.

TL;DR:

  • I merged my account with a team one of the company that i work in.

  • One of the GPTs is public and important to me and the company, but it’s stuck somewhere in the process—still public under my name, but not accessible to us.

  • I opened a ticket in Help and they asked me some info to investigate.

  • But it’s been over 8 days without any response, and we need this GPT to work with with the people (not the prompt, we need the published one).

  • We opened other tickets but didn’t answered yet.

  • Are there other channels besides Help and this forum? Some people from OpenAI can update us in the status of the issue

What’s Happening:

I created a GPT on the ChatGPT store with good ratings and visibility. I’ve recently joined a company, and we decided it would be best to transfer GPTs to the company’s ChatGPT Team workspace so we can manage it together.

What I Did:

  • Contacted Support: I reached out to OpenAI support and forums (thanks people) to find out the best way to do this.

  • Merged Accounts: Following their advice, I merged my personal ChatGPT account into the company’s Team workspace.

  • Expected Outcome: The GPTs and my History would show up in the company’s workspace with all its ratings and public status intact.

The Problem:

After merging, the GPT didn’t show up in the company’s account at all. It’s like it vanished. Both I and the company’s admin have checked everywhere, but no luck.

Attempts to Fix It:

  • We’ve Opened a ticket and later emailed OpenAI support multiple times over the past weeks.

  • Provided all the details they might need: GPT name, links, organization ID, workspace ID, screenshots—you name it.

  • They said that the transfer was not successful, but they didn’t give any more details.

  • No response from support for over a week now.

Why This Is Urgent:

  • Our project deadlines are slipping because we can’t access or manage the GPT as planned.

  • The team is stuck waiting, which is frustrating for everyone.

What I’m Asking:

  • Has anyone else experienced this? Any tips on how to successfully transfer a GPT while keeping its public status and ratings?

  • Any advice on getting a response from support? Maybe there’s another channel we should try?

  • OpenAI Team: If someone from OpenAI sees this, could you please help us out or at least let us know what’s going on?

I appreciate any help or suggestions you all might have. This is really important for our team’s progress, and we’re feeling stuck.

Thanks so much!

Marc

Experienced the exact same thing. 18 months of data that should have been merged has now disappeared. Old account is gone. Extremely frustrating

Anyone have a solution?

I have - the openai support always responds, it might take weeks to get a response, since you know, 200M users… but they always get back to you, they might even issue credits to you if what happened was pretty bad

also, if its super bad (for example, an issue impacting 200M users), an employee will let you know they are working on it…

Patience is key. From my experience, resolution times are around a month, sometimes longer. In my case, the issue was resolved just before Christmas when it finally reached an agent. Once it did, they used a script, and it was fixed instantly.

The real problem:

  • Long wait times with no updates.
  • Lack of visibility on ticket progress creates frustration.
  • OpenAI should improve by offering clearer communication and better tracking for ticket status.

What we can do:

  • Be persistent: keep updating the ticket with polite follow-ups.
  • Unfortunately, there’s no faster way—just stay patient.

Good luck, and hang in there!
