I am incredibly frustrated with OpenAI’s lack of response and support in resolving an issue with my Team Workspace. Here’s the problem:
My Team Workspace was deactivated due to some outstanding dues caused by a mistake. A team member accidentally created an additional user, which led to extra charges.
I subscribed to 2 users for the entire year (valid till June/July 2025) and am willing to pay the extra dues to resolve this issue.
The payments page gives an error:
4.“The payments page encountered an error. Please try again. If the problem continues, please visit help.openai.com.”*
I have tried:
Clearing the browser cache.
Using Incognito mode.
Still, the issue persists!
It’s been 2–3 weeks without access to the workspace I paid for, and despite repeated emails to support, I’ve received no response. This is unacceptable. I am losing both time and money because of OpenAI’s lack of support for paying customers.
How can such a major platform fail to address customer issues promptly? This isn’t just a minor inconvenience; it’s an active disruption to my work.
I demand immediate action to resolve this. If this issue isn’t resolved soon, I’ll have to explore alternative options and publicly highlight the poor support experience.
Anyone from OpenAI here, please step up and fix this NOW!
I am sorry you have experienced issues with your ChatGPT subscription, however, the developer forum is ran by volenteers to support the API and related subsystems.
The developer forum is not the correct place to report issue s with ChatGPT, if you visit help.openai.com and make use of the support system (icon in the bottom right corner) and let the support team there know of your problem you will get the quickest resolution.
The support system is typically very busy over the holiday period so please bare with it, but the members here are unable to assist with account related issues.
I know this may not be the answer you like, but there’s a good chance that the issue will resolve itself once a month has passed since the additional user was created. If you haven’t already, best delete that new user.
Here are a few more things you can try…
Use a different browser:
Where I’m at, payments are handled by a third party service, and depending which, they might be using the local (persistent) storage of your browser. I had this issue (payment processor forwarding) with Discord chat once, and was able to resolve it by using a different browser. Firefox Developer Edition worked for me.
The best way to contact support is through the help widget. I don’t know where the emails go – use the widget and try to stay as calm as you can: it takes a bit of clicking and exploring to get where you need to go.
They went from a small lab dabbling in a weird niche to one of the biggest players in tech in a matter of weeks. I mean, I’m just guessing, but there are probably still basic structures being put in place that we’ve come to take for granted with other tech companies.
I know that receiving responses like this isn’t helping much, but maybe it’s a small consolidation to know that others are bringing up issues too, and that OpenAI is definitely aware of it.
Hang in there, it’s just another week until the month has passed, and maybe using a different browser lets you into the payment settings.
