My card was used for ChatGPT subscription payment: fraud

oh my god!! what is going on? my card was used as well and I never give them my bank details. ChatGPT what is going on?

The closely related purchase before the fraud (26/04/2023 22:40) were Amazon and Google same days 25/04/2023 … causality link?

+1

Even I got hit by this fraud. I am in SG too.
Shows exact same message in my transaction.

I wonder how is this possible?

This is possible because your card’s number is not actually random, and can be easily guessed using any consumer-grade PC. What is happening here is known as a BIN attack, which I found out are extremely common. The bank (or rather, credit card company) should contact you and refund you for the amount deducted, but right now, you need to raise awareness so others will check their accounts as well.

If you are using a debit card, make sure to do the following steps:

  1. Apply for a credit card asap if you don’t already have one
  2. BLOCK your debit card for ANY transactions - contactless, online or overseas.
  3. Handle all transactions from now on through your credit card ONLY
  4. Enable notifications to be sent to your e-mail, even if it is a very small amount

Hey folks, if you run into issues with your ChatGPT plus account, please get in touch with our support team at https://help.openai.com.

Just to chime in on some of these comments, it is not possible for your account to be upgraded to ChatGPT plug unless you provided your credit card. If you think that your account status is not correct, please reach out to our support team, they can help get the situation resolved and refund any duplicate charges or cancel a plus account.

Hey @ema sorry about that, Askinet loves to block real posts for no reason. Our support team is grappling with a truly unprecedented amount of volume as we scale up. Please give us a little bit of time to make things right. The team is working super hard to make sure we address everyones concerns. I know it is frustrating but I appreciate your patience.

FYI, I also flagged this to our team so they can take a look here.
