I use ChatGPT heavily and have accumulated a large number of Projects and conversations. As the number of Projects grows, simply finding the Project or conversation I need can become time-consuming.
Projects are extremely useful for keeping related work together, but the current organization options are limited. When you have dozens of Projects and many conversations inside those Projects, navigating them can start to feel like searching through an unorganized filing cabinet.
I would love to see stronger organizational tools added to ChatGPT.
Some features that would make a major difference:
- Alphabetical sorting of Projects (A–Z and Z–A)
- Sort Projects by recently used, recently created, or alphabetical
- Manual drag-and-drop ordering of Projects
- Favorite or pin important Projects to the top
- Folders for Projects, such as Business, Personal, Website Development, Real Estate, Marketing, etc.
- Nested folders or subcategories for users managing a large amount of work
- Better sorting of conversations inside Projects
- Ability to pin important conversations within a Project
- Search within a specific Project
- Tags or labels for Projects and conversations
- Possibly archive Projects that I want to keep but don’t need visible every day
The biggest issue is that ChatGPT has become an important workspace for many users, not just a place to have individual conversations. Once someone uses it extensively for ongoing business, projects, research, planning, and personal tasks, organization becomes extremely important.
For example, I may know exactly which Project contains something I need, but finding that Project among a long list can take longer than it should. Alphabetical sorting alone would immediately help, but a combination of sorting, favorites, folders, and better search would make Projects substantially more useful.
Ideally, I would like ChatGPT Projects to function more like a well-organized workspace where users can choose how their Projects are displayed instead of being limited to one automatic ordering system.
I think this would especially benefit power users who use ChatGPT throughout the day and maintain a large number of long-term Projects and conversations.
The core request: Please give users more control over how Projects and conversations are organized, sorted, grouped, and found.
