Custom GPT's not updating

When using the “create” tab when creating my gpt I keep getting messages similar to the following when I input something or a piece of information to update it.

“It seems there’s a technical issue preventing the update of the GPT’s behavior at the moment.”

Is anyone else getting a similar issue or know how to solve it?

Did you resolve this, my Custom GPT is not updating and frozen with “Updates pending” note in top right. Does not update knowledge base and keeps kicking back old/incorrect data.

Exactly the same problems.

Happens on Safari, Chrome, tried different wifi connections - tried duplicating the GPT - updates pending for the last 48 hours on my GPT

Following as I am having the same problem. It’s got a whole new functionality.

Is anyone else still having this issue? If someone has figured out how to get around this please let me know. It is utterly frustrating.

I’m having the same issue

Edit: Randomly worked after like 2 days of not wanting to update

Been happening to me for about 4 weeks now. It has something to do with the file uploads, because it happens to every GPT I have that has more than 1 knowledge file (size is irrelevant). As soon as I add a second file for any reason the updates pending error appears and knowledge is gone. I remove the file, it goes back to normal.

I tested this live with a friend in the Philippines and he had the same issue.

No fix yet; but this is 100% a real thing.

it’s not working in my end too… i click on save and the update button just not working even if i waited for like an hour.

This is now happening to me. Any resolution OpenAI?

This has been a topic under many different heading and topic posts. There doesn’t seem to be any response from OpenAI in any of them.

Has anyone seen a response from these guys about this anywhere?

It’s really starting to frustrate me that hours of work are being flushed down the toilet.

I was having the same issues. I discovered that it is when my documents have certain characters the GPT refuses to update.
The following characters which sometimes ChatGPT uses for adding acedemic references were identified and removed: 【 † 】
After removing these characters from my source Word document which I had subsequently exported as a PDF to upload to the custom GPT, the custom GPT now updates without issues.
So issue may be susceptability to certain characters in the document.

I can confirm this also seems to be the issue for me. I deleted the three documents, all plain text, and then it updates. With them there it will not! Doesn’t help much, but fixes that problem at least.

Actually i have one particular document, plain text, and the only thing in it that isn’t text is tabs and that seems to stop updates happening!!!

FIX: If you are still getting this error, i was able to resolve the issue by reverting to a previous version of the gpt. Go to Version History and select a previous version. Go one by one back if you are trying to preserve as many settings as possible.

I don’t understand why OpenAI cannot provide intelligent error messages for problems with GTPs. There is no reason people should have to try and troubleshoot the issue on their own. Just tell us what is causing the GTP to resist the update.

I’m having the same problem.

I am having this issue too, for past week.

I find that usually you have to press the GPT “Update” button about 20-30 times before the GPT updates and returns a link. Each press you have to wait about 30 seconds before the error appears, as a result it takes quite a long process in order to update a very simple custom GPT.
