Custom GPT - All files except certain CSV files fail to upload (no outages reported)?

Wondering if anyone else is having this issue. I created a custom GPT a couple of months ago with some PDFs added to knowledge and it worked great and had fantastic/accurate answers. Went back to the same custom GPT this week and tried to upload new PDFs and now I’m getting a network error (Failed upload to files dot oaiusercontent dot com) for every kind of file except for certain CSVs, which I find really strange. Things I’ve tried:

  • Disconnected from work network/VPN. Also tried Incognito windows, etc.
  • Tried creating a whole new GPT from scratch, still unable to upload files.
  • Tried converting the PDFs I have to .DAT and other file extensions for code interpreter to extract the information with no luck.
  • Checked all file sizes (tried a single PDF at 343kb - still fails).
  • Removed all of the “extra” features in a PDF, including bookmarks, etc. to see if that was causing it, but no luck.
  • Tried uploading the same exact PDF I uploaded a couple of months ago with no luck.
  • Tried connecting to my hotspot or another network outside of my typical at-home connection.
  • Followed all instructions and guidelines for uploading files to custom GPTs; I am not doing anything outside of the norm.
  • Tried loading the files directly in the context/chat window during a new chat instead of loading them directly to knowledge - get the same upload error.

Not really sure what to do at this point, and I can’t get any support from OpenAI via their help desk. I have a paid subscription and wanted to show some higher ups what I was able to do a couple of months ago but now can’t and it’s bumming them out.

Anyone have any suggestions?

How many files do you have in it? The max is 20 if you click the upper right corner of the pink file upload you can remove old ones

I have just the one file - I even created a brand new GPT with zero history and still had the issue.

I just resolved it (literally right now lol) though - I sent the PDFs over to my personal PC and uploaded it there. No issues. There has to be something going on with IT or some restrictions in place, which I thought I could bypass by disconnecting from VPN/altering the connection, but I guess not.

I will talk to IT to see if they’ve put any recent restrictions in place, but for now my answer to this is to use another PC to upload what I need…
