Same. Using Chrome on Mac. Converting content in Word to .csv. It was working well yesterday but not can’t display the download link.

And I tried turning off VPN. Didn’t work.

I can’t get any work product file delivered.

I had it just print out the text. I could no longer wait. But that is not going to work for a large project.

Unfortunately, I cannot directly create or send zip files. However, I can guide you through the process of creating the zip file on your local machine using Android Studio. Here’s how you can do it:

Subject: Detailed Report: Technical Issues with Document Creation and File Transmission

Dear OpenAI Support Team,

I am writing to report persistent technical issues encountered during the creation and transmission of documents for my User.

Issue Overview:

When generating and sending documents (such as pitch decks and business plans), I successfully create the files, but the transmission process consistently fails. The failure occurs during the file-sharing process, specifically at one of the following stages:

1.	File Generation: The documents are created successfully without errors on my end.
2.	File Upload: The files begin the upload process, but an issue seems to occur during this stage. This might be a timeout, incomplete upload, or an error in the data transfer protocol.
3.	File Delivery: Even if the files appear to upload, the final delivery to the User fails. The User does not receive the files, indicating a potential disruption in the data transmission or an error in the endpoint communication.

Observed Behavior:

•	No error messages are displayed during the document creation process.
•	The file upload starts but does not consistently complete, indicating a possible network timeout or an issue in the transmission layer.
•	Files that do appear to upload correctly still fail to reach the User, suggesting a problem in the final delivery protocol or possible loss of data integrity during transfer.

Impact:

These issues have disrupted the User’s workflow, particularly in time-sensitive tasks, and have prevented the successful sharing of important documents. The recurring nature of this problem indicates that it may not be isolated but rather systemic.

Request:

I kindly request a detailed review of the file-sharing protocols and transmission processes involved to identify the root cause of these issues. Any guidance or fixes that can be applied to ensure reliable document transmission would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.

Best regards,
GPT-Assistant

ChatGPT agrees with this today:
The GetDownloadLinkError occurs when the system fails to generate a download link for the file I just created. This could be due to a temporary issue with the file-handling system.
I’m currently exploring alternative methods to ensure the file can be saved and provided to you. I’ll do my best to resolve this promptly and keep you updated.
Thank you again for your patience!
However unlike some others, I cannot download the file using the app.

Hi, is there anyone who ha s a solution for this. Since yesterday chat is trying to send me a picture (a logo, no big filesize) but none of the links are working, nor does uploading to dropbox or google drive work. Emails are not received. Its frustrating me and I’m losing time on my project. If this doesn’t work, are there any other chatbots you guys recommend?

I have not been successful at this method yet, but I was trying to set chatgpt up through the API to see if there is still a file issue. I have some models running locally, but this youtube here describes the connection through API where you pay per use. Maybe this might work

A few days ago ChatGPT suggested that it could email me the file instead, which it then tried to do, without result. Today I prompted, I realise the GetDownloadLinkError is an ongoing issue. To see if there has been any progress with the issue, would you please try emailing it to me again?

This time it answered “Unfortunately, I currently don’t have the ability to send emails directly. However, I can attempt to save the file again and generate a download link for you. I’ll try once more to create and share the PowerPoint file. Let’s see if the issue is resolved.”

So, still no resolution, and in fact the situation is maybe getting worse.

I am getting this error a lot now too. Occasionally, it will work for a bit then goes back down. It only seems to work if I switch between different conversations.

Very frustrating as we were making a lot of progress and this has radically slowed me down.

ChatGPT has suggested sending me the file through other methods, but none actually seem to exist

been having this issue since end of July and following this thread from creation.
I can double down on the fact that nothing has improved and it feels like it is actually getting worse. Uploading a csv always result in error, pasting the data use to work okay until a week ago where even analysing data pasted result in some issue and a less than accurate answers.
I am surprised that no actions have been really taken since then and that this thread still hasn’t seen a chatgpt support person to add a comment, a shame really…

Same:
It appears there is an issue with generating and providing the download link for the file right now.
:frowning:

@vitalikozmin do you have a link to the ongoing issue ? This right now has been more than a month I wonder what is the progress on resolving the issue (genuinely interested)

Has anyone had any luck? It seems illogical that no answers have been given. One of the main reasons I upgraded to Pro was its ability to upload, process and generate files for download. Without it, I wonder what’s the point?

Has there been any solution? I am having the same issue and am surprised to see how many and for how long this has been persistent already!

Same here… it’s still not fixed.

Same issue. Detail of the problem from ChatGPT 4o

Dear OpenAI Support,

I am writing to report an issue I encountered while attempting to generate download links for files created using the OpenAI platform. Below is a detailed account of the problem, including the steps I took and the system specifications involved.

Issue Description:

While using the OpenAI platform, I attempted to generate an Excel file from data processed within the session and provide a download link for retrieval. However, despite following the standard process, I encountered an error multiple times when trying to access the download link. The issue persisted across several attempts.

Steps Taken:

  1. I processed a dataset and used the Python tool within the platform to create a pandas DataFrame.
  2. The DataFrame was successfully generated, and I attempted to save it as an Excel file using the pandas .to_excel() function.
  3. The file was saved in the expected location (/mnt/data/), and I attempted to generate a download link.
  4. Upon requesting the download link, I encountered the following error:
  • Error: GetDownloadLinkError: Encountered exception: <class 'file_service_client.client.GetDownloadLinkError'>.
  1. Multiple attempts to save the file under different names and retry generating the download link all resulted in the same error.
  2. After following all standard procedures, the system could not provide a working link for file download.

System Information:

  • Platform: OpenAI GPT-based environment with Python code execution.
  • File Type: Excel (.xlsx)
  • File Location: /mnt/data/
  • Function Used for Saving the File: pandas.DataFrame.to_excel()
  • Error: GetDownloadLinkError encountered during file retrieval.

Expected Outcome:

I expected to receive a valid download link for the generated Excel file that would allow me to retrieve it from the /mnt/data/ directory.

Actual Outcome:

The platform consistently failed to generate the download link, rendering me unable to provide the file to the end user.

Request:

Could you please investigate this issue and provide guidance or a fix? I’m currently blocked from delivering files created during sessions, and this feature is critical for ongoing tasks.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your response.

Best regards,

Description:
I’ve encountered an issue when working with ChatGPT where I attempted to generate downloadable file links for Excel and CSV files. Although the files were successfully generated on the backend, I was unable to access them through a download link.

Details:

  • ChatGPT generated an Excel (.xlsx) file containing a list of data, but it failed to deliver a working link for me to download the file.
  • I also attempted to generate a CSV version of the file, and the same issue occurred—ChatGPT confirmed the file was created but did not provide a functional download link.
  • I tried multiple attempts and different file formats, but none resulted in a working download link.

Would appreciate any guidance or a fix for this issue!
