Can't fix this error. "Welcome back Something went wrong while getting your SSO info"

There is no way I can continue using ChatGPT because I keep getting this error.

Welcome back

Something went wrong while getting your SSO info

No, it’s not the browser/cookies because it happens on all browsers, even Opera.
I tried everything, I just want to stop Chatgpt from charging me for a service I can’t use.

The email address I am using is a columbia.edu email. Maybe OpenAI does not like Columbia University email addresses, or people accessing their site from Columbia University.

I need to cancel because I can’t use the service, but…
I cannot cancel because I can’t even log in.

Please be an honest organization and allow me to use the service or, allow me to cancel the service because you won’t let me use it.

Thank you.

Hello, I’ve had this issue nonstop too.

It was my vpn

Thank you.
I tried all combinations, I even changed networks and it won’t work, on any browser. The only version that works is the Android app. That one works.

Hi, if anyone is still having this issue, this is what fixed it for me.

When you are on the Login page

Modify the URL by adding “0” right after “auth” so it looks like: https://auth0.openai.com//authorize?client..

reload the page by hitting enter when in the URL field, the page should now contain “0” in the URL and be reloaded, put in your email and the password prompt should show up allowing you to sign-in

I discovered that it’s a Columbia University filter. I am using a Columbia University email address to sign in, so after I input my email address on the ChatGpt login, it redirects to: (see image)

And then the login fails.

For some reason Columbia University does not allow me to log in to ChatGPT (not anymore, but it worked for over a year), so I need to replace my email address on my profile, privacy, payment method, and everywhere else. Maybe a hotmail(dot)com email address would do it.

But, how can I replace that email address on my OpenAI profile with another one if I can’t even log in?

Definitely, it’s a Columbia University filter. It added these steps just to log in to ChatGPT.
The login to ChatGPT fails after all those extra steps. Sorry ChatGPT, it wasn’t you, it’s my university. I need to take away that Columbia University email address from ChatGPT and use hotmail, gmail, yahoo, or anything else. The problem is that I cannot log in to replace it. Thanks all.

This is what happens when using the auth0.openai.com (adding “0”)
The process goes a step forward but won’t allow me to log in/use ChatGPT. So if I cannot switch the email address I will need to cancel and open a new account using a Hotmail or Yahoo or Gmail account, but I will be penalized for canceling through the privacy subdomain privacy.openai.com. I got a message that I could not open a new account in a few weeks. ChatGPT charges me on the 11th of each month, so I will go ahead and cancel tonight. I will open a new account as soon as I can.
The only version that currently works with my Columbia email address is the Android App, but using ChatGPT on a cellphone is not always convenient in my case.
Thanks all.
(don’t use Columbia University email accounts to open a ChatGPT account)

@kamll.gogola THANK YOU!!! That worked. I was fretting there for a bit… but this solved my issue. Pheeeew!

So that’s it. I need to cancel my ChatGPT account registered using the columbia.edu domain.

I will lose my custom GPTs, API Keys, and all the threads I created. Maybe a year of work.

This is a nightmare.
Columbia University told me they didn’t modify any policies for OpenAI.
OpenAI stopped accepting Columbia University email accounts as valid email addresses.
So I am stuck with a useless ChatGPT account that ceased to work because it was created using a Columbia University email address over a year ago ago.
But ChatGPT keeps charging me their monthly fee.
I requested the deletion of this defunct, useless account several days ago, but OpenAI keeps taking my money. They charged another month for an account they won’t let me log in.

Is there a human working for OpenAI who can fix this problem? Either give me access to my account as it was before or delete the account and give me my money back, please. So I can create a new one using a gmail/hotmail/Yahoo email account.
The error message says “Try waiting a minute” but I have waited almost a week since they locked me out of my account.

It’s a vicious circle that only an OpenAI human employee can fix.

Hip hip hooray! This solved it for me. Thank you very much.

ChatGPT even has server errors when I try to login.

Hi, can you try a fresh chromium browser other than the one you are using? or firefox? issues like this are usually down to some incompatibility with the browser, extensions it has enabled and the chatgpt site.

I tried Chrome, from a new computer that is not mine, Opera, Firefox, and Microsoft. None of them work. Early last week it was working fine and it worked fine for over a year. This week it kicked me out of my account in all browsers. I tried with auth0, and auth (no 0). Nothing works.

OpenAI forces a process to verify that the Columbia University email address is mine and their process crashes. I think that’s discrimination. They don’t force that extra process for Yahoo, Gmail, or Hotmail email account holders, just for certain .edu accounts.

What keeps working very well in OpenAI is taking $20+ from my bank account for a service they won’t allow me to use. That will never fail.

I even followed their process to delete my account. To stop them from taking my money. They won’t delete the account, and they will keep taking my money.

I just keep receiving repetitive emails from robots saying nothing useful.

It’s a consumer’s nightmare.

Right, the main issue here is the developer forum does not have any access to user accounts or billing details.

The help.openai.com website and the support bot is the normal way to ensure this gets delt with.

If you wish to use the forum DM feature to send me the email address used to sign up with ChatGPT on I can request that it be deleted and any payments stopped. BUt any new account you will need to create for yourself.

Adding a zero to the subdomain, as per @kamil.gogola 's suggestion, worked for me.

My humble opinion is that we should not have to Google a solution and read through a forum to login.

This is not the only time I have struggled to login to OpenAI. I wonder if they even know they have an issue.

Since OpenAI won’t give me access to my account, the only option is to request that they delete that account to prevent them from taking more money from my bank card.

Their instructions say that it would take 24 hours to delete the account. It’s been 11 days already and they are still taking my money.

Total disregard for customers. No mercy organization.

@rocer try opening a “New Incognito Window” (Chrome) it worked for me in the past. It’s a very frustrating situation.
