Cannot Login to OpenAI or ChatGPT

Hi there,

Yesterday, I wanted to create a new assistant and went to OpenAI to login, but noticed that got the following message:

Incorrect email address, phone number, or password. Phone numbers must include the country code.

I used the same login before and I never had a problem. I just went to ChatGPT, logged in with stored credentials, and I could continue to login. It would send a code to my email, and then I would be logged in.

This is a email login, not tied to Google.

When I try and reset my password I get :

POST https : //auth . openai . com / api / accounts / password / verify 401 (Unauthorized)

or I get a blank screen, when going back to login.

What I tried :

  • Reset cache
  • Clear cookies
  • Private browser. This worked only once, with the same login, after which it didn’t work again when starting a new private browser. If the password were incorrect, why did it allow me to login once?
  • Disable extensions
  • Restart Chrome
  • Tried with Edge
  • Tried with Firefox
  • All browsers updated
  • Contacted support and got no response

My phone (android) is s still logged in. I am not going to log out of my phone!

I also didn’t receive any email communications on issues with billing or my account from OpenAI.

I’m having the same issue, when doing Codex onboarding

I used VPN, logged in and it worked. Disconnected VPN and was still logged in. I tried again without VPN and it worked without. Ever since then I did not have this problem again.
