API credits wiped without notice - how to contact real billing support?

Hi all

I’m hoping someone here can point me in the right direction as I’m hitting the wall trying to get proper support from a human.

I’ve tried contacting billing support but it’s just an automated agent which loops or hangs - does anyone know how I can speak to a human to get a refund without having to go through my credit card company?

I’ve paid for API credits - not much by OpenAI standards but a lot of money by my small struggling developer standards. I’ve just gone to use the API and all my money has vanished - is this normal for the platform to just wipe out people’s accounts? I wasn’t even emailed about this to say they’re deleting my credits. This isn’t a case of not being careful with my API access - I’ve used about 10% of what I paid for; nothing in the usage reports suggest other people are using it or any unusual access.

It is especially frustrating given the team at OpenAI are promoting developer engagement - they’re publicly hosting huge expensive developer-day events this week aimed at us - then they pull this without transparency or support.

If anyone has advice on getting a real response from OpenAI billing or you have recommendations for similar platforms which address these issues I’d appreciate it. I’ve always been a big fan of the company since the early days but they’re losing touch with their everyday user - they’re just targeting enterprise users who can absorb these kinds of losses.

credit has an expiry date, they might have expired?

There wasn’t any expiry mentioned and I didn’t get an email. Their support team haven’t contacted me back - so now its a race between OpenAI billing support and me finding a better alternative; whoever is easiest.

I’m really shocked how bad the company has become since they’ve grown - they’re turning into another Google.

They can’t just take your credit if it hasn’t expired and they can not refund or recredit you.

Just ensure you’re always keeping taps on your account and know the duration to which your credit has before expiration

Hi — sorry you’re stuck. Quick checklist:

  1. Log into platform.openai.com → Billing & Usage and screenshot the pages;

  2. search your email for receipts from noreply@openai.com or receipts@stripe.com;

  3. ask your bank if the transaction is pending / settled / reversed and note any auth/ref numbers.

Email support@openai.com FROM your account email with subject “URGENT: Missing API credits / Payment authorization (for example by me eith German card)”, attach the screenshots and bank refs, and state: “Please escalate to billing — refund or reinstatement requested.”

Secure any linked Google account (change password + enable 2FA) while you wait.

I can provide a German version if needed.
