Imagine paying for netflix and only being able to watch half a movie… Was trying to set up a GPT, testing it and hit the limit. Not the first time mind, and no point trying to try again straight after the allotted time as you’ll just get the same message
don’t worry, amazon has already innovated their prime offering to show you convenient ads to conveniently help you with your purchasing decisions while viewing your videos as part of your amazon prime experience.
OpenAI is conveniently helping you take screen breaks as part of an initiative to conveniently help you maintain your physical and mental well being, as part of your ChatGPT Plus experience.
its true, i just dont get it tbh. Im learning and when you are met with point blank ‘You cant do anymore’ it just feels like a pointless exercise, sine you’ve forgotten what you just learned or wanted to test, so you end up creating a mess with no strict rules
Hey folks, thank you for all the feedback here. A few points:
Initially the GPT-4 message cap and the GPT message cap were not the same (40 and 25 respectivley)
We have since made these the same (40 message cap per 3 hours)
I hear you on wanting a higher limit (and in some cases even being willing to pay for a higher limit)
To be clear, free tier users do not get GPT-4 access whereas plus users do, so their lack of a cap is on the 3.5 turbo model which also doesn’t have browsing, tools, or GPTs
We will do a better job at surfacing these limits and making it more clear up front
We really don’t like message caps the same as the rest of y’all, it is mainly a factor of compute scarcity which we are trying very hard to resolve. Rest assured we want people to be using ChatGPT as much as they have a need for!
Thanks for the understanding and being patient with us as we continue to scale.
Thank you for acknowledging that a large number of us are feeling increasingly restricted by this limit.
I haven’t actually experienced this much at all when chatting with GPT-4 normally, even though I use it quite extensively in my work, however as I’ve been trying out the voice chat feature in the iOS app lately I’ve been running into this message several times a day.
Either this is simply because voice chat messages are usually shorter and more frequent (frustratingly often because the silence threshold is far too short, causing messages to be constantly cut off and sent prematurely when taking a brief pause or even just a breath), or maybe that voice chat messages are actually counted differently from text messages towards this limit?
They cut it to 40 instead of the 50[quote=“jiuyanghou10, post:174, topic:494628, full:true”]
Do you guys know that how many messages can we send per day?

It’s said seeing this limit when there isn’t any on the free version. It only happens when creating a GPT. Just trying to configure my GPT which is why I bought the Plus version.
I’m not seeing a huge difference in the quality of the messages back and forth when creating a GPT so I do not understand the limit on this, it’s not like I’m asking it to search for features online. Just stating the parameters that I want my GPT to fall in the “preset parameters” set by you.
Just telling it to be a PDF interpreter and it always pulls the same features. So it’s not like its inventing itself every time?
Not quite understanding this and don’t know how I will deploy this to a website with me being so limited!
Me too.
This practice seems legally questionable and unethical. Users should have a fixed monthly subscription with a consistent usage cap. Dynamically adjusting caps to increase profits from existing infrastructure while reducing service for users is unfair and unethical.
this is bullshit we pay for chat gpt 4 to get more enhanced futures and now ot says there is a limitation while we have never got informed about that, i say let’s unsucscribe.
Same. It’s been getting worse and worse with limits for a few days. Yesterday after about 20 messages I got a block/limit. Today less than 15 and a block/limit.
