It looks file-type specific: Markdown and HTML uploads work fine, but every .docx and .pdf I try fails immediately, both through the dashboard and the API. Different file sizes, different documents, same result.
Nothing on the status page so far. Can anyone from OpenAI confirm if there’s an ongoing incident with the vector store processing pipeline for docx/pdf?
For comparison, a .yaml.txt file attached to the same vector store successfully.
So from my quick test, this does seem specific to certain file types during vector store processing, not normal file upload itself.
I also checked the status page and don’t currently see an incident listed for this:
Might be worth reporting to Support with failed file IDs, vector store IDs, timestamp, file types tested, screenshots and whether it happens through dashboard/API/both.
Welcome to the developer community, @gabeb, and thank you for flagging this. I was able to reproduce the behavior on my end as well. I’ve shared the details with the team for investigation and will follow up here when we have more information to share.
I have the same problem with my DOC and PDF, I delete chache and cookies, try in diferent explorer diferent IP diferent computer, also i tray like incognito but problem persist
Confirmed I’m seeing the same thing – unable to add to or modify vector stores. I can upload files without issue, but they never get attached to the store.
Same issue here. @OpenAI_Support can you please solve this ASAP? We have 3 demo booked for tomorrow with potential clients…this is the second disruption this happens in the last month. It is not acceptable.
The problem is also related to the fact that ingested files (included md and txt), are not removed and stay in a “in progress deletion” as per the image above. This has been happening since yesterday. @OpenAI_Support this is a very urgent matter. Hope you can fix it ASAP. Thank you
@OpenAIAPIhelper@OpenAI_Support do you have a time estimation for this problem to be solved from your side? If there is anything we can do from our side please let us know.
Hey @christian.pallaria , We are not able to reproduce the .csv upload issue. I believe the upload issue has been resolved including uploading .csv file. Can you please check again and let us know. Thank you!
Confirming that the problem with .csv still persist from my side. The file is ingested but failing when trying to associate it to the vector store. Pasting here some screenshots. If you cannot replicate the issue let me know the best way to share vs id and file id or anything else that will help you to investigate more.
Thanks everyone for flagging this and engaging here.
For the .csv case: .csv is not currently in the supported File Search / vector store file types list, so it may upload as a file but fail when you try to attach it to a vector store. Supported vector-store formats are listed here: File Search supported files.
On the file deletion delay: we haven’t been able to reproduce that on our side.
For further investigation, please open a support request at support@openai.com. Debugging this properly will require account/project/file/vector-store details, and we can’t collect or discuss that kind of personal/account-specific info in a public forum thread. Thank you!
