@jochenschultz Just 20 years of experience in programming, at least 15 with web architecture and infrastructure… still active, and it happens that I am head of the department that is responsible for delivering software in a company that is world-wide known on 5 continents; maybe my standards are different. And if you think that is the USA standard for such an easy task, I have bad news for you: you are the first to be looking for a new job. Please also stop judging a written message by sound, as it is physically impossible.
Do not justify a company that is ripping off customers because of possibly intentionally misleading information given to them!
Foremost, please stop the “Are you even a developer?” thing in passive-aggressive questions in your responses, as if you represent the entire world. You are plainly seeing yourself as “better” than “project manager,” which causes damage to both positions, but maybe you will realize that over time. Peace.
For other people waiting I just got mine after a week. Thank you!
Took me 25 to understand this kind of stuff.
Have you seen the status page of the servers?
Are you telling me you build something like this in a week?
Come on… the model had to be released before R1 could grab too much attention. I am sure it wasn’t planned to do it just yet.
So there is a lot manual labor included - might even be physically unloading boxes of hardware…
But saying this:
You really mean that? How much money did they make by letting a few hundret users wait a couple of weeks? You really think they made that for the money? They are building datacenters for 500 billion at the moment.
Don’t tell me your company never did a release because marketing told you to do that while devs said it is not production ready yet. That’s the core method of software deployment of 99% of all companies in the world.
And when you do a websearch of your companies name and combine it with keywords like “problems” I am sure you’ll see what I mean.
I find it almost ridiculously unreal that I received o3 access after my last comment… anyway, to the topic
Building datacenters… who cares? The company promises something on clear grounds—I understand there can be over- or underestimations. But misleading information about tiers or just a clear apology later, when sh$^ hits the fan, is a different story from user experience and how someone sees a company from the outside in contrast to what we have inside this single topic. Of course you will say, but it is a billion-dollar company, so they do not care… this is exactly what is wrong with the whole US mentality of the last 3 decades… hopefully new management on that government level will fix that.
Back to: “Don’t tell me your company never did a release because marketing told you to do that while devs said it is not production-ready yet. That’s the core method of software deployment of 99% of all companies in the world.”
I would lie if that never happned in my life, but the difference is I figured it out after struggling years - building actually department that is responsible for this very purpose. We have all technical background and bussiness domain knowledge to talk with management, product, development, infrastructure… small department only dozen of people, but connects everyone with knowledgable decisions because of knowing how to assess the risks and transalte these risks between departments. The worst part was always from the business/product/contracts/timelines/promises pressure, sure… but once translated both ways to development and back - everyone started to understand how that works. THAT IS a major problem of 99% companies in the world you just mentioned. Funny noone is keen to understand the problem, sitting in the same domains all the time as the kings. I did all, therefore I had chance to solve the problem from other perspective. I hope you will have such chance also in your life.
Well it just shows how ridiculous your statement
was.
Are you really saying they do it on purpose or are you screaming openly at their developers incompetence - which shines enough in other parts anyways to make up for it - otherwise it would be outside of everyones interest to get access to it.
Are you just a developer? Because you sound like one… you see what I did here? ehh
“Are you really saying they do it on purpose or are you screaming openly at their developers incompetence”,
You ruled out incompetence on so many levels, starting with:
- clear statement to customer what they can expect when they put particular money into a promise
- clear delivery dates when they accomplished all requirements from the promise, when infrastructure was not ready for that—here was the time for clearing the air
Does it sound to you like ‘developers incompetence’? STOP pushing developers agenda on this topic; it has nothing to do with the company’s responsibility to public claim… are you frkn joking me now with your narration or what the hell is going on here? Are you high?
And for… if they are doing this on ‘purpose’ and they knew r1 kicked their guts, so they need to somehow quickly monetize… oh man, yeah, that will be kind of a historical fraud case, but this is US, so I cannot care less.
They did not need to monetize but bring something out that is clearly better… And they did.
This is illegal misleading advertising. Quite literally bait and switch. They explicitly stated in their docs that tier 3 API access gives access to o3-mini. Then once you pay, they change their minds and it’s no longer available.
After reading the documentation, I just upgraded to tier 3 intentionally so I would be able to use o3-mini via api and reading these comments it sounds like I can’t use it? … honestly it’s very misleading, money grifting tactic from OpenAI - Disappointed.
No o3-mini API Access after upgrading to Tier 3
I feel misled because the information provided is clear and concise. The documentation explicitly stated that upgrading to Tier 3 API access would grant access to o3-mini
. However, after making the payment, I am now being told that access is not guaranteed. This inconsistency is disappointing and deceptive behavior from OpenAI.
I really like the atomasp
You will need a lot of filament. Should we start a gofundme for you?
I got access. Thank you guys.
Does the roll-out process base on who screamed the loudest?
I have been a paid platform customers for years, tier-3 users for weeks (super heavy users of another company’s model), still not able to access o3-mini.
Rate limits docs clearly states that from tier 3 higher, you have o3-mini. I have upgraded based on this information, but have no acces… Misleading and disappointing.
Having infrastructure problems may be understandable, but straight out baiting / lying is not okay. This is merely about one small update in the docs to clearly communicate what you get for your money.
Why do you think it does? This makes zero sense.
Do you really think you post here and someone goes and manually adds you to the next batch?
Do you really think because one troll said he got access right after he posted here (posing as a guy in a leading position of a big Corporation - on Tier 3 level ) that this really has anything to do with that?
Even if he really got that right after - it was pure coincidence.
@edwinarbus a little “The rollout process takes time - you don’t get access immediatly after reaching Tier 3 - it may even take a couple months” would be good I guess.
People will upgrade nonetheless - there is no choice anyways. o3-mini is by far the best you can get so everyone will just have to wait - but at least they know.
I just paid $100 to access o3-mini, only to find out that I might have to wait an unknown amount of time to actually get it.
This is completely unacceptable the tier and usage page clearly states that Tier 3 users should have access to o3-mini.
I’ve been working on my graduation capstone project for the past three months and was excited when I heard that OpenAI released a new, affordable reasoning model o3-mini
. Initially, I was using gpt-4o
, but we weren’t satisfied with its results.
So, we decided to switch to o3-mini
and even paid $100 for access, expecting improved performance. Unfortunately, despite the payment, we still haven’t been granted access to o3-mini
even though the documentation clearly states that Tier 3 users should have access.
With our project deadline less than a week away, we urgently need to present our work. I’m really hoping to connect with someone who can help us or grant us access to the model, as we believe it will significantly enhance our project’s performance.
o1
and o3-mini
have just been added for me after 8 days of upgraded to Tier 3. I was using quite a lot of o1-mini
while waiting for o3-mini
though.
That’s great to hear! However, could you provide more detailed information regarding your usage? For example, how many tokens or how much money did you spend on o1-mini
?
I need access to the model for a project and don’t anticipate using it extensively.
