Hello OpenAI team,
I saw that o3-mini is rolling out to API users in tiers 3-5 starting today. As a Tier 5 user, I wanted to check—should I already have access, or is there a process to request it? Would love to hear if anyone has received access yet!
Not sure if it is me, but I don’t see the big improvement vs o1-mini (I don’t use it for coding btw).
In addition, I also used o3-mini to help create better prompts for o4-mini (that I apply that on tens of thousands of API calls) and it’s recommendations to improve the o4-mini prompts barely seem to work. in the end, I noticed that if I rewrite the o4-mini prompt myself I get better output.
I mean this in the best way possible, but every day you and your coworkers delay access to new products and features to tier 5 users those users another reason to buy used GPUs or Mac minis, cluster them and spin up autogen and R1 and not make API calls to your service. It’s not quite at the level as O3 but it’s close enough to justify the costs if you are a heavy user.
In other words, what you are doing is killing your development community, while burning VC cash and reducing cashflow that we’d otherwise spent via api requests… For the sake of the entire development community, I hope you all reverse this decision and also prioritize meaningful UI/UX improvement and updates to existing services and products.
me to, i upgraded to tier 3 2 hours ago and i still get {‘error’: {‘message’: ‘The model o3-mini does not exist or you do not have access to it.’, ‘type’: ‘invalid_request_error’, ‘param’: None, ‘code’: ‘model_not_found’}}
@PaulBellow Please man, is there any way for us to at least know what is holding our access from being granted? Or at least the ETA number of days until we have access? I create content and have loaded cash so I can test o3-mini
