This phone number is already linked to the maximum number of accounts

I have tried working with “support” for over two weeks and they have been zero help. They have given me copy/paste boilerplate for how to login to ChatGPT and the likes despite the very specific facts, screenshots, etc that I have provided them.

I am on a paid business plan. I can log in to ChatGPT. I cannot log in to Codex because it sends me to an authentication page where it asks for my phone number. When I enter my number, it says, “This phone number is already linked to the maximum number of accounts.” I haven’t ever had a phone number associated with my account or the main owner account on our business plan. I have been unable to login for weeks at this point despite attempting to do so on multiple devices, browsers, and operating systems. Everything is up to date on my end but the problem persists.

Has anyone found a way to actually get logged in from this apparent bug or do I just have to cancel all of our business plans and move on?

I’ve been at it for a while, escalated the issues and all roads lead to the same suggestion from the support. ‘Cancel this account and start fresh’.

I don’t think there’s a fix coming because I don’t think OpenAI believes there’s any issues that needs to be fixed.
