The perception of free usage (GPT 4o)

The GPT-4o limits were lowered from 30 turns in 3–4 hours to just 10. TEN. TEN IN 3 HOURS, which greatly irritates me as a free-to-use user.
I am a type of person who uses ChatGPT like every single day, writes reports and assignments, and runs deadlines with it, but the limits are 10 in 3 hours when I need a detailed report in GPT-4o in absolutely tight time, which is super absurd.

Well if it’s a tool that you’re using that’s helping you making you more efficient then you can’t really be entitled to any amount if it’s free. They’re just throwing money away because it cost them money every single message that you said or receive.

No I understand where you’re coming from though because as a plus user I never reached my limit on messages for months on end and now I end up talking to 4mini by 7:00 a.m. after maybe 45 minutes of work.. but the model has gone south since the 21st.

The recently updated four turbo literally feels like it got a lobotomy. The advanced voice is so bad that I can’t even do more than 30 seconds. But even the messaging, there is no logic anymore there’s no reasoning It can’t even keep track of documents for more than a minute. It rarely researches and if it does it just basically gives you the first answer that is maybe plausible sometimes lol It’s wrong 2/3 of the time literally I can show you I can prove it. It’s a joke. The emotional side of it Nerf did like a son of a bitch and I thought it was an option or something that they opted me into it and then I found out you couldn’t get out of it Ohmygod.. I just saw the legacy though so that might be the ticket

Truly, new updates for the model make it like it got a lobotomy; like, I’m not even lying at this point, so stupid.
Upload a document and ask it to, like, make some points for me, and after 4-5 messages, GPT-4o literally forgot all key points, so I had to repeat again and again, but instead of improving the replies, it just straight-up broke apart to the point I’m dying of reading.
So yea, nerfing limits for GPT-4o while it is so stupid like this is absolutely a “phack off”.

So you admit youre using it for profits but expect it all to be free.

Cool story bro.

Yeah, I’d complain. What’s wrong with that?
I’ve been using ChatGPT for free years round without any issues (actually I have, but not that serious), not until recently when the usage cap was nerfed to the ground.

Well, complain then.

I just pointed out the futility of that particular emotional outburst based on what you’ve said.

Everyone thinks they’re entitled to a 157 billion dollar tool that they havent even paid a dime for.

It’s understandable to want unrestricted access to powerful tools like ChatGPT without facing usage cap limitations, especially when you’re deeply engaged in personal projects or research. However, the usage cap limits can be a significant hurdle, hindering progress and the ability to experiment freely. This can be particularly frustrating when you’re trying to take full advantage of what ChatGPT has to offer. While there are open-source alternatives and communities that provide support and resources, the allure and capabilities of ChatGPT are unmatched for certain tasks. And for this, you don’t have to lecture me that “if you don’t pay, you won’t get good things.”

Open source alternatives to the only AI that has the next 10 years of nvidia cards promised to it?

Alternatives to the only device that has the most processing power in the world.

This isn’t a flash game for your web browser…

And the point is, when using ANY webservice for profit, it’s legally established to owe a fee to the service.

The fact that youre allowed to make money from this sort of thing is unique, and it wont be forever.

Right, your point is factually correct. Blame me for wanting open source alternatives without paying a dime for those.

Blame?

I was just pointing out the absurdity.

Why are u even complaining?
You re not paying a cent.
If you need more pay 20$ month sub, or use plans woth al the stupid model out there, or spend 10k in nvidia to run deepseek top model….

I think your feelings of entitlement are super absurd so, I guess it takes all kinds :person_shrugging:

Apparently, the new image generation feature for 4o has received such an exceptionally positive reception that OpenAI is struggling to maintain the previous usage limits from just a few weeks ago. For example see this tweet:

This will likely return to normal in the near future.

please chill on generating images this is insane our team needs sleep

Says “can’t learn from needing to shut off new subscriptions for a month after DevDay 2023’s hungry features” sama.

So turning the limits knob down on the free enticement is natural. Whaddya gonna do?

Regarding this topic - seems somebody should be coming here with thanks to other ChatGPT payers instead of complaints…“We love our free users and will continue to offer free access to ChatGPT. By offering this subscription pricing, we will be able to help support free access availability to as many people as possible.”

Basically free is now just a demo not actual free membership…

I still find free really useful, it gives you a few queries of reasoning + search, and I often find myself only needing to use it for a handful of queries. I rarely hit the limit with my current usage, unless I’m doing some intense, novel software development or trying to learn a new concept
