Regenerate button is gone

Regenerate button is lost for my new conversation after the outtage today, does anybody have the same issue? or it’s just me? it’s very annoying…

I have this issue too. Itd really annoying. Is it any way to fix it?

same, honestly it feels like the whole thing just got hit by a massive downgrade, I’m hoping this isn’t just things we used to have on a plus membership being locked behind the rediculous 200 dollar a month pro version now

Can user who post here note how they are accessing ChatGPT?

  • Internet browser
  • Mac app
  • Windows app
  • iOS app
  • Android app

They have different features at different times.

Browser. Google Chrome from laptop. But mobile version of page also doesn’t have this button
Also strange moment: old conversation have regeneration button, but new conversation - no.

Also I installed Windows app, and regenerate button gone there too
Can’t post new post so edit this but @Foxalabs it disappeared from here:

It now lives here

This is my ChatGPT windows app

Have you tried reinstalling the app?

This is for Windows right?

@Foxalabs this is Windows app
Internet browser the same.
I tried reinstall app. Log in and log out into browser too

I can only assume it is a roll out issue and whatever server is locally serving you will be updated soon.

There are some differences between EU and US servers at times due to compliance regulations and approvals.

@Foxalabs i doubt that it difference in USA and Europe part. Second account in my ChatGPT Team subscription is in same country (basically we use same IP) and it have this button.
Hope it will resolve soon for me

I’m currently using android phone and internet browser on desktop using windows. regenerate on android phone is OK, but for the PC, no matter firefox or chrome, both are without regenerate button. AND to top it off, the respond in the conversation keeps replying me using the “canvas” method, which I really don’t like.

Mine too, i noticed that if i open a new conversation with short prompt, the regeneration button is there, but if it’s a long paragraph (i’m currently using it to write novels, the first prompt is more than 10k characters) then the regenerate button is gone. I tried a way to work around by starting a new conversation with just few words then continue off in the 2nd prompt for my novel, but the regenerate button vanished also. seems like there’s some problem with replies that has words over thousand?

Hope this problem gets solved soon, using PC for writing is much more easier than phone, and the replies I get are always not as prompted with messy logic and memories, so I need to regenerate few more times to get them right by not dragging the conversation too long which would cause crashes. I’m so annoyed and irritated. I’m a paid user and I hope to get what I paid for.

This is starting to smell of the kind of problem where something that we think is unrelated is influencing the problem.

First off, for those not aware of the 12 days of OpenAI, it is having quite the impact on everything OpenAI.

12 Days of OpenAI - Release Updates

Wondering if some of the ChatGPT Capabilities in settings, specifically Canvas, are influencing this issue.

  1. Open ChatGPT settings
Click the icon with the letter to see the Settings option.
  2. Select Personalization.
  3. For Custom instructions, click On.
  4. At the bottom of the dialog, look for

Since I cannot reproduce the issue, I will have to ask others to report on what they find if they disable/enable some/all of the Capabilities. Also, explore more possibilities in settings; this was just the one I would test first.

@EricGT
I tested and it helped
When I disabled everything - button is appeared back
I played with settings and find reproducing step: When first answer of ChatGPT starts as Canvas - you don’t have regeneration button even when you switch to “use chat instead of canvas”.
Also, I disabled only Canvas and it works in 50% cases. When it creates usual chat - regeneration button is exists. But sometimes despite disabled canvas setting, it anyway start as canvas and then this button doesn’t exists.

Thank you for the feedback, we often don’t hear such positive results.

If you don’t mind, what happens if you leave all of the ChatGPT Capabilities selected and then toggle off Enable for new chats?

My thinking is that Enable for new chats was created to revert back to the earlier way ChatGPT worked without ChatGPT Capabilities and that while with deterministic programming this would be a process of elimination, the selection of ChatGPT Capabilities selects or modifies the prompt, and thus this is not a deterministic problem. Yes, it is out there, but being a programmer, this is what one has to consider.

I tried to toggle off “Enable for new chats”. When it starts new chat as usual - regeneration button exists. When it starts chat as canvas - I don’t have regeneration button
