Add a Usage Meter for Free Plan Limits

I would like to suggest adding a visible usage meter for ChatGPT users on the Free plan.

Currently, it can be difficult to know how close a user is to reaching their usage limit. It would be helpful to display a simple indicator somewhere in the interface, such as a progress bar or percentage-based meter.

For example:

  • :green_circle: Plenty of usage remaining
  • :yellow_circle: Getting close to the limit
  • :red_circle: Almost at the limit

If showing an exact percentage or number of messages is technically difficult because usage limits may depend on factors such as model usage or system capacity, even an approximate indicator would be very useful.

This would help users better manage their conversations and avoid unexpectedly reaching a usage limit in the middle of an important or long discussion.

A simple “usage remaining” or “energy bar” would significantly improve the experience for Free plan users.

This would be especially helpful for Free plan users who want to know whether they have enough usage remaining before starting or continuing a longer conversation.

Reaching the limit without advance notice can interrupt the conversation at an inconvenient point. A visible meter would give users a chance to manage their remaining usage and prioritize the conversations that matter most.

The approximate green, yellow, and red indicator is a useful alternative when an exact message count or percentage cannot be provided. It would still offer meaningful guidance without suggesting that the limit is fixed.

I cannot promise when or whether something like this will be added, but I will pass the feedback along internally.
