Organization Verification failed after identity verification

To add to the already not working Organization Verification procedure, I received today a mail by "Noreplay at OpenAI the request to certify that I am over 17…The mail asks me to open Chat GPT and follow instructions. But opened Chat GPT does not show any instructions. Well, bad story is the same mail tells that if I do not comply, I will have my account frozen. The new verification and legitimation rules are certainly necessary to prevent frauds, but their implementation is far from user friendly (btw…unfortunately I am 17 + 50 …hope to see AGI before leaving forever Earth to meet with SAGI…

I am happy to announce that Open AI support has solved the Organization Verification issue. I got that cleared by them this late afternoon. I suggest everyone to write to support through the chatline “Crystal”. Somehow the humans behind got the message. I wish everyone else that has still the verification issue ongoing to get it solved soon. At least, there is hope yet

I just get “organization could not be verified” without any explanation. I wasn’t prompted to provide any documents or anything either.
It seems defective?

Yes, same bug. I already provided details and asked for support and no support. No refund of credits nor help with verification.

Did anyone get any update on this?

We’re still unable to access and zero reply from @OpenAI_Support

In their latest email, they not only tell me that they will not give me a link but also confirm that I will be kept out of any updates that will require verification. The crazy thing is that while I was taking the face picture it crashed, from that moment the expired session warning blocked everything. I have a corporate account with multiple licenses, I am an early adopter and never expected this. Now I can’t integrate bees, this verification system has corrupted my profile, it is resounding and terribly frustrating

Continue persisting; you have your right to rectification best thing you can do is to complain to the EU for mishandling data

I’m having the same issue. was anyone in this thread able to solve it @alok.singh @dalisoft

No, neither help from support or fix

I’m experiencing the same problem. I’ve had to create multiple accounts, and each time I’m forced to top up my balance before I can complete verification. I’ve contacted support via both email and live chat weeks ago, but I still haven’t received a response.

Pretty crazy that this is not being handled.

I am facing the same issue now. Does it solve for you? What were the next steps you took to get it solved and working?

@saimahesh.paruchuri I still don’t manage to verify and tried more than 5 times. No response from @OpenAI_Support for weeks. So i started replacing all the OpenAI Services with the Google Gemini services.

I kept $10 in both accounts. Now both accounts are not verified, so sad about it. I am waiting for a response from the OPEN-AI.

Just FYI. OpenAi Support replied

Thank you for reaching out to OpenAI Support. We hope this message finds you well.
We’re sorry to hear that your verification attempt didn’t go through. Verifications can fail for several reasons, such as a mismatch between your information and ID, unclear images, or the use of unsupported documentation.
At this time, we’re unable to restart or extend verification sessions once they’ve expired, and we currently do not offer retries for failed verification attempts. We understand this can be disappointing, especially if you were attempting to access models that require successful verification.
That said, you’re still welcome to continue using the OpenAI platform with the access currently available to your organization. Access to newer models requiring verification may remain restricted unless the process is completed successfully.
As a final step, we recommend navigating back to the verify organization screen, clicking the Refresh button, and then selecting Start ID Check to ensure you’re seeing the most up-to-date status and available options.
We’ll be sure to share any updates if verification or retry options become available in the future. Thank you again for your understanding.

So there is no solution and you have to find another service.

I have the same problem and got ai support to answer why it’s has failed for me… here is why (maybe some of you hade the same reason)

Thank you for explaining further. Here’s what’s likely happening based on your situation: Each government ID can only verify one organization every 90 days. If you have already verified a different organization using your ID, you will not be able to verify another one until this 90-day period has passed. The verification process for organization access (for the API, like gpt-image-1) does not use email verification but instead relies on ID verification and eligibility checks. If the “refresh link” or verification button is giving you the same link and not progressing, it indicates that the system is still locking your ID to the previous organization and is blocking new attempts as per OpenAI’s policy. That’s why you keep seeing the same expired link and are unable to start a new process—the system is preventing multiple verifications with the same ID within a set time period. This is intentional for security reasons and cannot be bypassed or refreshed until your eligibility window resets. What you can do:

  • You will need to wait until the 90-day window from your last successful organization verification has passed before you can verify a different organization with the same ID.
  • In the meantime, you can continue using the models and features your current verified organization allows, but the new organization’s access will remain limited until you are eligible again. If you want to check your eligibility or get more details about your verification status, you can find more on your organization settings page: OpenAI Platform Organization Settings. Let me know if you have any other questions or need more info!

Hey just figured out you can send an invite link to your organization, then login from there and you’re able to get a new link. Unfortunately that doesn’t solve the ‘Could not verify your identity’ issue, but at least it gives you another try. Maybe use another person’s ID?

It’s crazy that this is this big of an issue and has gone 3+ months now without any fixing, same response

I got the same response - can’t verify via openai persona link - but I CAN verify with Persona with the Persona App!!

App recognises me, validates my ID and face scan.

BUT

same process on openai shows
Could not verify your
identity
We were unable to verify your identity. Please
contact support.

I got this reply from OpenAI:

At this time, access to certain advanced features (like image models or o3 streaming responses) requires organization verification. This process begins by clicking the “Verify Organization” button from your organization settings page. However, please note that:

  • Verification attempts are currently limited, and retry options are not available if the process is started but not completed.
  • If a session is interrupted or a submission is triggered (even without uploading ID or facial data), the system may still register it as an attempt, which unfortunately can’t be reset or manually overridden at this time.
  • Access restrictions are applied based on verification status, and we understand this may feel unfair if you didn’t knowingly complete or submit anything.

While we’re not able to manually restart or bypass the current state of your verification, please know that you can still use the OpenAI platform with your current level of access. We’re actively working to improve this experience and will notify users if retry options become available in the future.

Guys, I think there is no solution for verification failure unless you restart a new account to get verification first. How come a well-known company like this missing retry feature on a critical position…
Basically they just blame your session interrupte or your face looks too bad to be recognized by the system.
I think they should hire engineers to complete this feature, rather than outsourcing this.

they’re lying.
because I’ve made another account and tried again - I tried 4 different times.
What’s strange is that I was able to verify myself via the Persona App - worked first try.
So Persona is working.

Persona → OpenAI is what fails the first time. Then the Org will continue to fail verifications.

Strange.

I suspect there’s a huge divide between support and engineering teams - and so they have no idea; You have no idea because it’s a black box and all you have are the generic errors. That’s what support has too - so it’s just an echo chamber of lost people blindly trying to poke a black box. :joy:

Thanks for the update.
