I’ve put off this verification step but now need to do it. By all accounts this has been quite the charlie foxtrot.
Before starting I wanted to ask for suggests or updates or issues?
I didn’t want to start a new thread, there were several on this and this one seems the nearest to a “megathread” on this matter, so…
I plan on going thru this step over the weekend. My org. is just an individual one and I’d be verifying using a California regular driver license (i.e. not enhanced, real id).
That sort of state, where a semi-completion or failure leaves residue and it’s not simple how to restore back to “clean” state is one of those areas that typically needs somebody with system knowledge or strong skills to figure out – IME. Saying you “cant do that now” is always kinda lame as it implies you can’t prioritize the right resource(s) to address.
My speculation here is that openAI don’t have good engineers resourced to this housekeeping area, they are all on core product. On the support side they have support people and try to employ their own AI to do some of this but it’s a gap.

I doesn’t feel good to have to engage a process with a shady player like this. Everytime in the past I’ve done that the result has predictably been my data ending up with hackers selling it on dark web with no meaningful recourse.
I’ve invited my wife as an Admin, and she was able to verify the organization with her ID.
This worked for me. I invited a team member as an Owner in Settings → Organization → Members. They got a different link, and they could Verify my organization.
What the heck with your verification process? I’m trying to get access to the more advanced models but you keep rejecting my verification without any real explanation. I submitted my passport, personal details, everything you asked for, and all I get is a big fat “denied.” This straight-up looks like a scam: you collect all my sensitive data and docs, then ghost me with zero access.
After about 3-4 months waiting, I can verify my organization again and verify successfully. I think their verification process will be reset after certain period.
I’m also having issues. I verified one org in the past without issues for a client, now I’m trying to verify my own org for GPT-5 access, it failed, I’ve tried another org we have, wouldn’t let me do it again even after topping up, so I created a new org with a new fail, and tired again with a different type of ID, failed again.
Money wasted, no further forward, and now risking falling behind our competitors, and Open AI won’t do anything about it, won’t even allow a retry. The system is broken.
Same issue here. I cannot verify my organization because I already used my DNI to verify my old personal account. When I try to verify my business account (using the same DNI), it fails with an “expired link” error.
Context: I migrated from a personal Plus account (with all memories, chats, etc.) to a business account where I’m the admin and owner.
Given the lack of support and effective solutions to avoid wasting time and money, I’m seriously considering cancelling all my OpenAI products.
I am also having this issue. I am truly in shock of how apathetic OpenAI seems to be about this problem. I have reached out to support 3 times and it’s like my messages aren’t even being read. They suggest the same solutions that never work.
OpenAI, if you are reading this, you need to address this issue. This is an absolutely embarrassing problem for a company of your scale and supposed decorum to be facing. You are actively jeopardizing your developers by doing nothing about this, and yet you don’t seem to care.
We were verified. We used gpt-image-1 for months without problems.
We started getting 403 last night. The company now need to be verified again, but the verification process fails.
We are stuck in a limbo and we need your help, please.
I tried this method and added a new user as an Owner. Went to verify, and it STILL says session expired. Its unbelievable that a company like this could have such an incompetent verification process.
Hi, I complained into my chatgpt about how bad the process is and it actually suggested I use Stability AI to make my images. I don’t know how well it would work for you and your project, but maybe give it a look. Chatgpt seems to know its flow and can integrate it into your project (I am an independent developer not related in any way to any of these products, just to be clear).
I invited a brand new user to the OpenAI platform, who had never done a verification before, and added them as an Owner. They were then able to use their Canadian passport to verify the Organization. My theory is that a given human can only verify one Organization every 3-4 months. Which is crazy, since most proper companies have a dev/staging/production setup, where the dev account is less secure and more accessible to the developers, and the staging and production account(s) are locked down. Presumably they’d need three separate humans to verify?
