"Oops, an error occurred!"

Thank you for this comment, it lead me to a solution!

I had the same issue since yesterday (Win10) and nothing seemed to help. You mentioned a browser version, so I went ahead and updated my Chrome. Thank goodness, this worked, and my Chat is back! :partying_face:

Me too in my Android phone

Using iphone 7 and chrome app. Also tried fire fox and safari. Yes I have the latest update for the OS. Deleted cookies and cache

I experienced the same thing yesterday.
Win7 on both Edge and Chrome.
Deleted cookies.
Deleted cache.
Closed browsers.
Cold boot.
Nothing.

Fails on both new chats and existing and archived chats.

Went to laptop, Win11 with latest Edge update as well as Chrome - logs in, and everything works fine.

You may want to try it on another device such as your phone.

Other than that, still trying to get it working.

That is what solved my issue:
I was able to solve my issue by following these steps:

  1. I used the latest version of Opera GX browser for Windows 7 on a virtual machine.
  2. I downloaded and extracted the zip file from github at /kylepaulsen/ResourceOverride/releases.
  3. I loaded the unpacked folder as an extension in Opera GX.
  4. I pinned the extension and added chatgpt original url + “/*” without text marks as the tab URL.
  5. I clicked on “Add Rule” and selected “Inject File”.
  6. I named the file as “gpt fix” and chose the file type as “js”.
  7. I selected “Inject into Head” and clicked on “Edit File”.
    The javascript:
    if (!Array.prototype.toSorted) {
    Array.prototype.toSorted = function(compareFn) {
    compareFn = compareFn || ((a, b) => String(a).localeCompare(b));
    const arrayCopy = […this];
    return arrayCopy.sort(compareFn);
    };
    }
  8. In the editor, I added the script mentioned above and saved the changes.
  9. Finally, I closed the window and the issue was resolved.
    The solution credit goes to the original contributors. We hope this helps anyone facing a similar problem.

Oops, same problem here on my Macbook Pro w/ Safari. So it isn’t just Windows systems. Started yesterday afternoon. Works fine on my iPhone 14 though.

You are correct Android - ChatGPT needs the latest version of the Browser.
Unfortunately windows 7 will not update to the latest version of Chrome because it requires windows 10.

Hmmmmmmm

Day two and same issue. I thought it was only going to be this way for a day which was yesterday. I login this morning and I am still getting the same error and issue with no real time updates or notices from OpenAI. There is a reddit thread about this issue since yesterday and this forum here but no official notice from Open AI.

I am about to just cancel this service all together because none of this is making any sense,

Well at least now OpenAI can modify their page to detect which browser is being used and add this code automatically so it will resume working on older browsers.

Who do I contact for a refund for these last few days? This month was already paid with no issues of course but when I need any assistance with these on going issues that are not being responded to by Open AI in any forum or email no one responds or tries to explain anything

Same problem since two days, cleared cache, tried Brave, Chrome, Firefox, Safari. I don’t even have the sight of past chats. Anyone has the same problem? Any ideas how to solve it?

if you scroll up a little you will see the solution provided by me.

This is because your browser is on an old version. Parts of chatGPT’s javascript code are using the “Array.prototype.toSorted” functionality, which does not exist in older browsers.

Update your browser version

The lack of any assistance from OpenAI makes me wonder if this is being done under pressure from M$ to try to force people to leave Win7.
