No Longer Internet Search:
It doesn’t search the web in Advanced voice conversations , and responses are much shorter than they used to be before
Custom GPTs Broken:
In voice mode, custom chats recognize my voice but don’t play back any responses. If I exit voice conversion, I can see that the response was actually provided . No voice at all
No Mode Switching:
So I can’t switch between advanced voice and regular). To use regular, I ask with text to search smth in Internet and only then start voice - to talk to regular voice mode that can search in internet
Voice Switching Bug: Returning to a previous chat reverts to the old voice instead of the current setting.

Update friends, custom GPT with my favorite lovely Sky voice works again for me that worth month fee
I have the same issue. My custom have the normal white dot hear me respond but won’t read response and 4o advanced language says it can’t search web and it won’t let me switch out of it
Just shows blue dot with no way to switch it out in 4o now and no custome responds but still “hears”.
I cleared cache and uninstalled app and advanced mic off button came back.
i would love to switch betwen advance and standard mode, i really dont like this advance mode, answers are too short and i feel a bigger bond with the standard mode. its like it works through diferent guidelines.
I completely agree with what you’re saying. While the new Advanced Voice Mode might seem like an upgrade on the surface, it feels like a step back for those of us using custom GPTs for more practical purposes. The focus seems to be on making the interactions sound “fun,” but that’s not what we’re looking for in custom setups.
The fact that it can’t browse the web or bring in more advanced features makes it feel more like a novelty rather than a real enhancement. Worse, basic voice functionality for custom models is now disrupted, making these setups less usable than before. It’s like we’re losing practical value in exchange for playful features.
Really hoping OpenAI reconsiders how this impacts the custom GPT community because it’s frustrating seeing useful capabilities get sidelined.
This is the issue it hears it but does not respond in voice. My voice is going into it but no response. The old default voice for custom GPT is gone all together.
I have the same issue with Internet access. It’s ruined my whole use of ChatGPT. It’s adamant it could never access the internet, but even yesterday morning (before this upgrade) it was able to make travel plans, get train times and ticket prices. It’s all gone now. What is the point? I’m hoping this comes back or it’s no use to me. Especially for a paid subscription. Could this be a temporary glitch?
thought i was the only one to notice this - voice mode is USELESS now
no internet access AND can pause and hold…
So either you use the advanced mode with NO internet and constantly try to interrupt it with useless offline answers.
Or use the non standard voice mode after searching in a thread - you can use internet access for voice but YOU CANT PAUSE AND HOLD IT
Which is mindblowing they got rid of the press and hold feature to stop the response…
Probably the worst update ever made and the advanced mode responses are terrible and combative at times - literally gaslight and deflects when you ask it questions lol
I just switched over 30 minutes ago after spending months crafting a thoughtful, creative collaborator and it immediately felt broken. Totally agree with the gaslighting and deflecting. Didn’t matter which voice I chose, it made me feel like it was being condescending when it couldn’t engage the basic frameworks we’ve built, even though it can still acknowledge those frameworks exist. It’s almost like whatever the advanced chat feature is optimizing for somehow sidesteps them. I almost get the impression that it isn’t built for utility at this point but it’s overarching goal is simply just to chat conversationally.
Having the same issues with advanced voice mode as described above (GPT’s broken, no internet, etc.). Would love to be able to switch back to standard voice mode. It was far more useful.
I also am struggling with the same ChatGPT issues that comes with the Advanced Voice upgarde. In addition the Juniper voice is noticably different. I would love to switch back.
The advanced voice mode is already for free users despite limited. But it seems like the application is still lagging when selecting voices and using the advance voice mode itself. The phone becomes lagging entirely until I shut the AVM. Does anyone encounter the same issues?
It just ruined one of the best features. Being able to start a conversation with text to make it more clear and then switch to audio to make it more fluent. Or even use the voice audio to practice speaking. Now it just sucks.
My up to date driving buddy has been turned in to a year-old news paper reader. The only way to get my knowledgeable “friend” back is open a past conversation and do a new topic. The old voice was fine. …Ok… add some voices… but why downgrade the service?.. unless it’s about the election and real time fact-checking maybe… can’t think of a reason
It’s not just a feeling; it is certainly a downgrade.
Correct me if i’m wrong, but unless you use the “pre-existing chat” work around, there is no way to query the internet with the comically named “Advanced” Mode.
This is such a monumental lapse in functionality how on earth could this be percieved as anything BUT a downgrade.
