My balance (with expiration date) cannot be spent with the current monthly limit

I don’t understand, I have $2000 balance and just one month to use it, but I have a monthly limit of 120. It does not make sense. They ask me for a payment plan to have a registered and verified payment method... ok... but my limit is still 120 and it expires this month. From support they tell me that I have to upgrade to tier2 by adding 100$ to my balance… really, in order to use my 2000$ I have to pay 100$?

Posting here may sometimes have gotten attention from OpenAI staff before for those that have grants, but generally account issues have to be handled off-forum.

You can send through “help” and given an action that must be taken on an account, instead of posing a question: “I need to have my API organization TIER level manually raised by OpenAI staff to ‘tier 4’, as my current tier does not reflect the $2000 of credits placed into my account. This is not a question, this is a request for account modification by OpenAI personnel.”

It is a question as to whether anyone else has had this happen to them and how to proceed. In any case, forum threads are not always questions.

Yes, there have been many under startup or research grants that the imposition of a tier system based on prior monetary payments on them meant “free” tier limitations, who then reached out to the forum for solution. Some were addressed, some were given the promise that more would be done to improve this, some are nothing but the topic and no replies because no fellow users can do anything, and then some significant staff changes and less interactions on an account-basis.

The best course of how to proceed I have, I replied.
