I live in Europe, Germany specifically and I have access to the memory feature on my phone but I have no option to turn it off. Even on the mobile version and the desktop version of the website I do not have the personalization tab and no option to turn memories off.
As it is a crucial privacy point for me it’s just frustrating to can’t turn it off. Hopefully this gets fixed soon.
Subject: Issue with ChatGPT’s Memory Function
Hi, I live in Europe, Poland and I’ve been a plus subscriber for a long time. However, I still do not have a “Personalization” section and still have no “Memory” settings. I hope this will be fixed as soon as possible.
This feature has been released on February 14, 2024 but I haven’t used it so far! It is crucial for me to be able to have this functionality since it’s frustrating to introduce topic/project every single time I create a new chat.

I am from the UK, and am a Plus Member and am using Microsoft Edge.
Once upon a time, I saw the “Memory” feature in “Settings > Personalization”.
Around the time 4o was released, “Personalization” and “Memory” disappeared.
I recently asked 4o the following:
Can you see my previous chats?
If not, then where has Settings > Personalization > Memory gone?
It responded by saying:
No, I can’t see your previous chats. Each session with me is independent, and I don’t have access to past interactions. Regarding the settings you mentioned:
As of my last update, OpenAI ChatGPT does not have a “Settings > Personalization > Memory” option. However, OpenAI has been continuously updating their services, so it’s possible there have been changes or new features added since then.
For the most current and accurate information, I recommend checking OpenAI’s official documentation or support resources. If you are using a specific platform or version of the application, details about settings and personalization options should be available there.
I am hoping it will come back, but for now
