Hi there—I’m a longtime ChatGPT Plus user and power user of the memory feature. I accidentally deleted all my saved memories last week and since then, memory has been completely nonfunctional on my account.
Despite memory being re-enabled system-wide (per OpenAI’s updates), mine still does not work:
• The memory toggle is ON in settings.
• I’ve tried prompting the model to remember and recall things—no success.
• I’ve submitted multiple support tickets and only received generic, AI-sounding replies with no resolution.
• I’ve tested across browsers and devices, cleared cache, and updated the app—no change.
At this point, I’m seeking a real review of my account by a human. I rely heavily on memory for professional use, and not having it makes the product far less functional for my needs.
Please let me know how I can escalate this, or whether there’s a known fix for accounts stuck in this limbo after deletion. Happy to provide screenshots or account info privately if needed.
exact same problem here, i have a big message “memory disabled” at the top of my chats and whatever i hcange to the parameters it is still here … cannot find why and it’s a bit harassing
I have a slightly different error, the memory works (it turns on and off, but there is no point) and saves, but it does not refer to the saved data, now it makes them up
The saddest thing is that few people notice it. I was just comparing how he used to write, when he relied on memory, and now he doesn’t give a damn at all.
This issue occurs on all platforms: PC, iPhone app (I haven’t tested Android), and browser. I’m sure they’ll look into it sooner or later, but I won’t be paying for a subscription for now.
