Why do you say that something “went wrong with the grants?”
I haven’t got any grants as well - all paid credits and my account too went to -ve balance.
Thanks - that makes this a MAJOR issue, OpenAI taking what doesn’t belong to them.
A working credit grant balance, BTW, will have the original payment value on the right, and then the remaining balance as the first figure on the left, dropping to $0.00 immediately upon expiry at the end of the month, 0:00 UTC as soon as the date flips. Which was 30 hours ago, not directly coinciding with initial reports of this issue. (but the first of the month coinciding with extra billings and extra refreshes against Stripe API, perhaps a contributing factor to backend issues).
The balance of a grant being LARGER than the amount paid in, and you also not going MORE positive, another major malfunction.
I do not have an issue, perhaps lucky to have made no billed API usage against the currently unaffected grant line item being deducted from for a week.

Same issue. Yesterday positive and today negative balance and no API calls in between.

Same issue but now API calls are not going through either. Error code 429.
This is a serious problem and reduces our faith on the already occasionally unstable OpenAI API in production use cases.
https://status.openai.com/ also doesn’t show any issues, which it should.
Same issue happened with me. I had to recharge my account to get service up again. But I paid 62.44 usd extra. When will it reflect my account???

Same here, it went from 100$ to minus 500$ without any abnormal usage..
I had a similar experience. My account went from $50 to negative $77 almost without any usage, as I turned off my workers two days ago.
Same here, i used 1 dollar of credits today and my balance is on -60 dollars. Did you get any response from OpenAI staff ?
Between july 2dn 02:00 and 03:00 Api credit went negative. No expiration of “old credits”, balance was positive and no excessive usage. All normal. Topped up a month ago. Production stalled so topped up again but this is not acceptable. OpenAI, please correct.

Experiencing the same issue, unfortunately. My credit balance went to -$39.52 overnight without usage, and was positive before. Hopefully they will fix it soon.
(Contacted through support chat, expected response within 2-3 business days. Hopefully they fix it sooner (Idk how this normally goes).

this happened to me too! I was on a positive amount earlier this afternoon and I use an api that barely charges anything a day and all of a sudden they’re claiming my balance is -$41 usd and I don’t even have auto recharge on, either. I manually add my credits which I WAS hoping to do this week but not now wtf? im actually shocked this is happening to so many of us. I’ve only used $1 for the first day of the month. weird!
Same. I went from + 3 to - 25 while i was using the api. Basically it stopped and told me i have overcome my quota, i checked and got -25, then I went on here and realize everybody is experiencing the same thing.
Has anyone know what’s happening or how is this issue going to be resolved?

Same issue. Went from a few dollars credit to negative $47 with only a few cents of usage.
I think this is related to free daily tokens that are granted for sharing inputs and outputs with openai
I think I know the reason.
My account got the same error with negative ~$56.
I check the last month used token around $62 and the the last time I check account, it has ~$6.
So I think OpenAI double charge the token from that last month and give us the negative number like that.
