Is there some formula for maximum usage limit increases?

I recently received an email from OpenAI stating that my account got a maximum usage limit increase (from $120 to $600) because of a recent payment.

Does anyone know if there is a formula or set benchmarks that trigger these limit increases? Spend X to get Y, for example?

That’s a nice feature that they are automatically increasing people.

Better system than a languishing request that must be approved by human, no feedback why you didn’t get an increase, and seemingly you must not request too much of an increase beyond the next tier available.

You probably know better than anybody outside of OpenAI themselves what pattern resulted in the automatic increase!

Oh so this isn’t a common occurrence? Interesting, well I’ll post my billing history in case anyone else is curious then:

July 1: $1.03
August 2: $0.54
September 2: $83.05
September 2 through 14: $57.44 (current billing cycle, not yet paid)
September 15: Maximum usage limit increase from $120 to $600

Better system than a languishing request that must be approved by human, no feedback why you didn’t get an increase, and seemingly you must not request too much of an increase beyond the next tier available.

Definitely is, I’ve seen quite a few posts about people having trouble with maximum usages. Hopefully OpenAI rolls this out to more users soon, seems like a win-win to me.

This is where you go if you want to request limit be increased otherwise.

(element edited for obfuscation and fun)

Lots more concerns reported here, than happy increases announced (naturally, because this site is found when you have problems)

Success is better with:

  • putting in correct details,
  • making a case, with company details, plans, success, users,
  • not filling the request box with more than the next tier they can grant.
