"Individual verification is not complete" when submitting an app, but it is complete

When I attempt to submit my app I see:

"Failed to save app changes. Please fix the following errors:

  • individual verification is not complete."

And then below: “Individual verification is not complete. Please verify as an individual before submitting.”

Yet at the same time:

Hi,

This may be a distinction between organization verification and the verification required for app submission.

The Apps SDK submission docs say that before submitting an app, you need to complete identity verification for the name you plan to publish under. If publishing under your own name, that means individual verification; if publishing under a business name, that means business verification. The docs also say this is enforced during app review.

So the screenshot showing “Organization Verified” may not necessarily satisfy the app submission check if the app is being submitted under an individual name.

There may also be a permissions angle: the same docs say app drafts/submission require api.apps.write, while viewing drafts/review status requires api.apps.read.

If you have already completed the relevant individual verification and have the required app permissions, then this looks like an account/submission-state issue and probably needs OpenAI Support or staff to check directly.

In that case, you can open a support ticket in Help.

Hi Larisa, so when I click on the link which is included for verification in the error, it takes me to the page where it says I’m verified.

If I try to change the “Developer” to actually my verified name, the same error shows, so I guess I need to open a ticket.

Unfortunately I can’t seem to find the relevant section on the help page to actually get a ticket

Thank you for confirming.

If you click that black “speech bubble”, then you should see this:backhand_index_pointing_down:

If that wouldn’t work (some users have reported an issue with it), in that case you can always email them directly: support@openai.com

Aha I see it now thank you. Brave browsers privacy shield removes that button, so the site has to be loaded without shields enabled.

Totally get why that’s inconvenient @tavurth, and thanks for jumping in here @LarisaHaster.

Glad you were able to open a support case. If you can share the case number here, I can take a closer look from my side and help narrow things down.

At this time, we suggest trying to access the service from a different network or device, if possible, to see if the issue persists.

So I tried different network / device / browser (no extensions)

Still not heard back from them via email yet, this was a few days ago

Appreciate you sharing the case number. I’ll make sure it gets the attention it deserves and see if we can help move things forward from here.
