Hello. In the past 2 weeks I tried to do some tasks with ChatGPT and PDF attachment and now with image attachment. After giving him a task it thinks for a while and giving back error, then it thinks again and another error (message “Error”). I have this problem in the Android app and also on the website on computer. And every time it’s getting worse. Now ChatGPT can’t even do anything with my attached image, so it’s useless…
I hear you—that sounds frustrating, especially since attachments were working better before. You’re definitely not alone here, you’ve come to the right place.
A few things that might help troubleshoot:
Does this happen with all file types? (For example, PDFs vs. images vs. text files)
Have you tried using a different browser or updating the app? (Sometimes that can resolve UI-related issues)
Does re-uploading the file after a fresh restart change anything? (If it’s a session bug, this could help)
A method I’ve found useful is copying the full error text and pasting it back into ChatGPT itself for analysis. GPT can often provide insights into what the issue might be, whether it’s a format mismatch, a processing timeout, or another underlying problem.
If none of that helps, it may be a server-side issue that OpenAI is working on. You might want to check the following link: (https://status.openai.com/) or submit a report to OpenAI support with a description of your issue and the file type you were trying to upload. The more reports they get, the faster they can track down and fix issues like this.
If you’re trying to analyze text from an image, a workaround could be using an OCR tool to extract text before pasting it into ChatGPT. Not ideal, but it might help until the issue is resolved!
Hope this helps a bit! Let me know if you’ve noticed any patterns—this might help figure out what’s causing it.
