Unsure if this topic would be more at home in the API Feedback category.

The documentation states:

For local development, you can use HTTP but if you are pointing to a remote server, HTTPS is required.

but the error message the user receives when providing an HTTP URL is simply “Couldn’t find manifest.”

It may be helpful to indicate why the manifest could not be found.

pop the local address with ai-plugin.json into your browser, if it displays then you’re good to go.
