I want to switch back to chatgpt3.5 from chatgpt-4o

I want to switch back from chatgpt-4o to 3.5. I cannot see any option or drop-down, and it is forcing me to use the new model, even if I don’t want to at that time.

I am having the exact same issue. Additionally, after a few messages/instructions I am unable to send any more

Same Problem here, can’t use anything since im locked to it now. Looks like im going to make another account.

This link will switch back to 3.5, but for only new chats, it will not work for chats in history.

This will still have a ridiculously low limit on each new chat. I don’t want to have only 2 questions that I can ask. Please, let me roll back entirely to version 3.5 with a greater limit.

New account wouldn’t help. it will follow this new thing with 4o limits even for 3.5.
The only way I found to get the old style 3.5 with great limit is just don’t use authentication at all.

I switched to 4o to check it out but now it seems like there’s no way to go back. Now everything is limited and using new tools so my existing chats that I’ve been building for a long time are no longer usable and limited. I can’t say I’m impressed with this change. I was enjoying 3.5 and was hoping to upgrade to the paid plan in a few months but now I’m questioning it as the limitations are making this less appealing.

It seems pretty easy to switch back?
I’m not sure if they recently patched it, but after the free 2 or 3 messages, it just makes me switch to the GPT-3.5 model unless I upgrade.
There are a few buttons at the bottom of the response to your prompt from ChatGPT. The read-aloud button, copy response button, regenerate response and like/dislike buttons. Finally, the very last button is a little lightning symbol which is a dropdown allowing you to select which model to use.

For the free accounts, we have limited number of requests for using gpt4o model. Let’s say there’s a particular thing which doesn’t even require gpt4o to answer, then that’s a waste of using the limited credits right? In beginning a new chat too it’s a bit unnecessary to use gpt4o credits unless the user wants to. I guess they just have to give the users an option to select which model they want to use.

if you are using web version , look for the lightning icon below the gpt response , click on arrow next to it and switch to gpt 3.5

if you are using phone app, touch and hold on gpt response for second , then touch on lightning icon and switch to gpt 3.5

Even when you do that, it doesn’t change the default for the next response.

If you ask a simple question (such as 2+2), the lightning icon in the response can be used to change the model to 3.5. But still doesn’t change the model for the next question/response.

Same here. 4o is ignoring most of what has already gone on in a long-running thread, not to mention it will just spew 4 pages of garbage each time.

Worst of all, I opted OUT of 4o, but somehow still have it.

Same here! I have to reach my limit with 4.o first then I finally can use my reliable 3.5. I just want to use 3.5 . It is able to connect with what I need so much more. I do hope they let us simply choose which one we want to use. I believe Open AI has overlooked how amazing chatgpt 3.5 actually is. I know the other models has more training and ect, however chatgpt 3.5 would probably easily out do the others in many areas, if it had some updates as chatgpt 4 has had. It has been around longer and has learned and evolved over time what the people need. It is the perfect model for many uses.

And right now there’s an outage in GPT4o. Aparently it still prints out a 4o message when used the aforementioned 3.5 link.

Same here! Then, I logged out of my account and was finally able to use GPT 3.5 again. Using chat GPT without being logged in. Or Use incognito tab.

yes i do so,
but i feel it is not practical

After two requests, I have a notification showing:

You’ve reached your GPT-4o limit.
Responses will use GPT-3.5 until your limit resets after X:XX PM.

The number of requests for GPT-4o has run out and the Chat should switch to GPT 3.5 but it doesn’t and you can’t send requests in the current chat anymore.

I think they fixed it, you can now switch to use the default model and 4o in the same chat. Also, if 4o runs out, you can still use the default model.

How can you all change it, when I press on that “lightning” icon it says: this model can’t use tools, or smth like that and also while hovering on model selection 3.5 it shows “blocked” icon and I can only upgrade to chatgpt plus if I want to use it… It sucks, I want my chatgpt 3.5 back. Or else I’ll use Claude, Gemini, Copilot till all of them combined will solve my work
