How to get API access to o1?

On the usage limits page https://platform.openai.com/docs/guides/rate-limits/usage-tiers?context=tier-two&tier=tier-three#usage-tiers they make it seem like all usage tier 3 accounts get access to o1, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. (I am usage tier 3, and o1 is unavailable to me).

Found this post https://help.openai.com/en/articles/10362446-api-access-to-o1-and-o3-mini which implies only a subset of users, even in usage tier 3-5, get access to it. How can I be a part of that subset? What criteria are needed to get access? Will I get access at usage tier 4? Or some other way? or i must sit and wait…

How long has it been since you achieved Tier 3?

Also, please visit help.openai.com and select the icon in the bottom right of the page to contact OpenAI support, there you can request o3 access.

Thanks for the tip w/ openai support! i have been usage tier 3 for ~1 week. is there transparency somewhere around how long i need to wait for access?/when it will be rolled out to 100% of a given tier? (all for o1 here)

No, just if it was a few moments ago, then it could be a propagation delay. As it’s been a week that should not be the case. In your o3 application to support you can add the request for o1 as well.
