How long does app review typically take?

,

Hello

We have developed an MCP server on our QuranX website and submitted it for review.

It hasn’t been in review very long, but can anyone tell me typically how long this process takes?

Thank you

The review process can vary depending on the complexity of the app and current submission volume. Typically, initial reviews can take a few days to a couple of weeks. Keeping your submission complete and following all guidelines usually helps speed things up. Patience is key, and you should receive updates once the review progresses.

The review process usually takes anywhere from a few days to around 2–3 weeks, depending on their workload and how detailed the checks are. Since you’ve only recently submitted it, it’s completely normal not to hear back right away. If you don’t receive any update after about two weeks, you could consider sending a polite follow-up to check on the status.

Our submission has disappeared from my ChatGPT apps now - we’ve not received any email notifications about acceptance or rejection.

Hey @QuranX.com, appreciate you surfacing this 🙏 The current limitation is that the app directory and Apps SDK are still in beta, so review timelines can vary a bit while those processes are still being built out and scaled.

Normally, you should get a notification at the email tied to your OpenAI account once the app is approved or not approved, and if it isn’t approved, that email should include the rationale. Hopefully that helps add a little context here.

You can check out this helpful article for a bit more info: Submitting apps to the ChatGPT app directory

We are currently paying a monthly licence only so we can submit this app. It has been approximately a month so far.

We hope it is delt with soon.

Greetings @OpenAI_Support

Our MCP has been rejected again. The rejection reason was “Your included screenshots do not meet our publishing requirements.”

We used 3 images of the exact dimensions specified in the requirements, and as per the requirements they were screenshots of the Tool Calls window in ChatGPT.

Can you please explain what this was rejected?

Hey @QuranX.com! Thanks for the heads-up on this. We’re going to take a closer look from our side and will follow up once we have more information.

I also encountered this problem.

@aitools3422 Despite what the instructions say (to show tool calls) you are actually supposed to show the chat response (without the question).

Thanks for following up, and for flagging the screenshot-guidance confusion. App-review timelines vary, and we don’t publish an SLA or offer expedited review. Screenshots should accurately represent the in-ChatGPT app experience and meet the required dimensions. For rejection-specific clarification, please reply to the rejection email with your rationale. Since the original timing question and screenshot requirement have been addressed, we’ll close this thread.
